Carlito reveals WWE departure after R-Truth stunner

New York Post02-06-2025
WWE is letting another longtime performer walk away from the company.
The wrestling world was shaken up Sunday when news broke that R-Truth was not getting his contract renewed by WWE, and the 17-year veteran wrestler isn't alone now as Carlito is the latest victim of WWE's roster trimming.
'My contract is up in 2 weeks. It will not be renewed,' Carlito posted to X Sunday evening.
3 Carlito announced WWE will not be renewing his contract and he's leaving the company in two weeks.

Carlito made his WWE debut in 2004 when he defeated John Cena for the United States championship.
He then stuck around in WWE until 2010 before mainly returning to WWC, where he began his career in 1999, and made inconsistent WWE appearances throughout the years.

In 2023, he re-signed with WWE full-time, where he was primarily comedic relief for 'The Judgment Day' group and had only made one televised match in 2025, when he participated in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Carlito poked some fun at himself for his limited WWE action over the past few years.
'On top of that, WWE is demanding I pay back the $ they paid me for apparently 'stealing money' from the company,' he joked. 'I've had my lawyers look into it and after reviewing my footage on Netflix for the past months they suggested I pay them back the money.
'All jokes aside, gracias WWE & especially the WWE universe,' Carlito added. '[I love you very much!]'
In addition to the United States championship he won in 2004, Carlito won the Intercontinental championship, the WWE Tag Team championships and the World Tag Team championships across his career.
Outside of WWE, Carlito just won the Puerto Rican championship in WWC over the weekend when he defeated Ray González during the WWC Summer Madness event.
The 46-year-old Puerto Rican star will now continue his career in WWC moving forward.

That is, unless he makes a surprise return to WWE sometime down the road like he did the last time he parted ways with the company.
'PS…I'll reappear again in another 13yrs,' Carlito concluded his X post. '[God bless you!]'

The Best Tunnel Fits From The 2025-'26 WNBA Season: All Star Weekend

Get premium, high resolution news photos at Getty Images The time has finally come—when players from across the league, selected through a fan-driven voting system, unite as the newly crowned All Stars. All-Star Weekend feels a bit like making it to the final rounds of Love Island: you've been voted a fan favorite, there's a prize (well, bragging rights), and instead of romantic challenges, the best duos and trios face off in non-traditional basketball scrimmage. But the main event isn't just the game. The weekend is packed with fireside chats, 3x3 scrimmages, skill challenges, and the always iconic 3-point contest. This year was a bit different, as the main event was pushed over for a whole lot of partying — as seen on Studbudz's live stream. And thanks to the them, many online are saying, 'Studbudz's 72 hour stream has somehow revolutionized sports content [through the]This year, the WNBA brought back WNBA Live—a convention packed with pop-ups and experiences where fans could meet players, shop merch, and win tickets to the game. Alongside the festivities, a seemingly ubiquitous conversation about WNBA salaries also loomed over Indiana and all the weekends' happenings. All-Star Weekend happened to coincide with the period when players, through CBA meetings, were negotiating their contracts,, and more importantly, their pay. For some time, the WNBA has faced a stark pay gap compared to its NBA counterpart. Now, players are advocating for a livable wage and equity that reflects the league's growth. So, it would be remiss not to highlight a favorite look, this time not from the tunnel, but from the Clark wearing a "pay us what you owe us shirt" Wearing black-and-white t-shirts that read: 'Pay us what you owe us. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Drew McIntyre has offered a detailed and fascinating comparison between the creative processes of former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and current Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque. Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast, the former WWE Champion explained how the change in leadership has allowed him to develop a more complex and authentic character. McIntyre described Triple H's approach as more "modern thinking," which contrasts sharply with Vince's more singular and protective vision for his character. Vince's "Warrior" McIntyre explained that under McMahon's creative direction, his character was often presented in a more traditional, one-dimensional "warrior" archetype. He believes Vince's vision for him was meant to be protective, but it ultimately became limiting. "For Vince, I think for me, personally, he had a certain image of me, and he was always looking to protect me as this warrior character," McIntyre said (H/T to "And if I want to try something outside the box and stuff I'm doing now, like, for me personally, it probably wouldn't happen just because he was like, 'No, this is my Drew. This is my warrior. This is how I see it.'" This singular vision dates back to McIntyre's first WWE run, when McMahon personally dubbed him "The Chosen One," a label that ultimately failed to connect with the audience and led to his eventual release from the company. WWE/Getty Images More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match Creative Freedom With Triple H Under the creative direction of Triple H, McIntyre feels he has been given the freedom to be himself and explore more nuanced aspects of his personality. This has led directly to his current, critically acclaimed character who often blurs the line between heel and babyface. "Hunter is very much of the modern thinking," he explained. "We're going to try something different. We're going to let you... be yourself, and let this personality that he knew I had shine." He pointed to the success of The Bloodline saga as the prime example of the deep, layered storytelling that is now flourishing in WWE. "WWE shouldn't be black and white," McIntyre said. "We can grow these deep, layered, complex characters... I've been able to develop this McIntyre character where people know me inside and out." Learning From A Legend During the conversation, McIntyre also shared a classic story about receiving some cryptic but valuable advice from The Undertaker when he was a young superstar. He recalled asking for feedback after a match and being told something he didn't understand for years. "He was like, 'Stop playing the wrestler and be the wrestler,'" McIntyre recalled The Undertaker saying. "What the f--- does that mean?... It took so long to realize, 'Oh, he's saying, I'm trying too hard. I'm not present.'" More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
