Van driver arrested on Cumbrian bypass after reports of vehicle 'all over the road'
A VAN driver was arrested on the Hensingham bypass following reports from the public that the vehicle was 'all over the road'.
Copeland police were called out to Hensingham bypass, Whitehaven yesterday evening, May 17 after reports from a 'concerned member of the public' in regards to a van being 'all over the road'.
Following the location of the vehicle from Firearms Support Unit a man was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol.
In a statement on social media, Copeland police said: "Officers from Firearms Support Unit (FSU) located the vehicle on Hensingham bypass and the male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol following a positive road side test.
"This was not a firearms related incident, FSU were simply the first to locate the vehicle whilst out patrolling."
