Nancy Mace gubernatorial run rumors reach fever pitch with apparent slip-up

She couldn't keep it quiet. Firebrand Rep. Nancy Mace appears to have prematurely revealed the launch of her gubernatorial campaign next week while promoting her series of town halls in the Palmetto State. In a blast advertising the first stop of the 'Mother of ALL Town Halls Tour' in Myrtle Beach, the congresswoman's team tagged the event as being hosted by 'Nancy Mace for Governor.' A webpage for the event teases it as being hosted by 'Nancy Mace for…' But a screengrab of the slip-up — whether it was intentional or inadvertent — quickly gained traction on social media. It comes ahead of Mace's (R-SC) 'special announcement' next Monday. 3 Rep. Nancy Mace's 'special announcement' comes next Monday. AP When asked about the screengrab, a spokesperson for Mace told The Post, 'Will confirm on Monday!' Mace, who was first elected to the House in 2020, has long been dropping hints about her plans to jump in the race to succeed term-limited Gov. Henry McMaster (R). 'President Trump needs America First governors. South Carolina needs a fighter,' Mace declared on X Wednesday. She's also cut videos hyping up her Aug. 4 'special announcement,' which will take place at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Mace graduated Citadel in 1999 and was the first woman to graduate from its Corps of Cadets program. Notably, Maxine Hudson was the first female to graduate Citadel in December 1969. The Lowcountry rep has made a name for herself as a culture warrior in Congress and for her pomposity. Late last year, for example, she crusaded to stop transgender people from utilizing the women's bathroom in reaction to the election of Rep. Sarah McBride (D-Del.), the first openly transgender person elected to the House. Eventually, GOP leadership opted to change the policy to require individuals to use the facilities that correspond with their biological sex. Back in January, Mace joined firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) in storming into a woman's bathroom in the House amid fears that a man snuck in there. 3 There is a crowded field of Republicans jockeying to succeed term-limited incumbent Gov. Henry McMaster (R). Epics After some sleuthing, they discovered that wasn't the case and quietly walked away, according to Bloomberg reporter Billy House. Mace also went viral in April on the eve of Easter for getting into a foul-mouthed shouting match with a random man wearing daisy dukes at a local store. The man, whom she accused of being an 'unhinged lunatic' and of 'harassing' her, chided Mace for not doing more town halls. She countered that she will 'do plenty more.' 'And by the way, I voted for gay marriage twice,' she noted, seemingly implying that he looked gay. The two exchanged f-bombs, and Mace later posted a video of the encounter on social media. In May, Mace displayed a 'naked photo' of herself, only showing a silhouette of her, during a congressional hearing. Sparse polling has pegged Mace as the frontrunner in the South Carolina gubernatorial contest. Should she make the run for office official next Monday, Mace will face off against Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), state Sen. Josh Kimbrell (R), Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette (R), and South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson (R). 3 Nancy Mace is planning to barnstorm across South Carolina over the coming weeks. CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty Images Back in February, Mace publicly accused Wilson of ignoring evidence she presented, alleging sexual abuse from her ex-fiance and others. Wilson has vehemently denied that, calling it 'categorically false.' Mace is facing a defamation suit over those sexual abuse accusations. However, she made the accusations during a House floor speech, and lawmakers enjoy constitutional protections under the speech or debate clause.

Crockett criticizes AOC and Bernie Sanders' 'Fighting Oligarchy' tour for making it about themselves

Firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, privately trashed her far-left colleagues Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., accusing them of not being team players and going on tour simply to promote themselves. In May, as Crockett was eyeing a bid to become the senior Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, she met with fellow Democrat, Oregon Rep. Maxine Dexter. During the meeting, Crockett was asked about her relationship with Ocasio-Cortez, according to a new profile in The Atlantic. Dexter had concerns that Crockett could have conflicts with party leadership, much like Ocasio-Cortez did when she first came to Congress. The Texas lawmaker replied that, unlike AOC, she did not want to "burn it down" and that she was more committed to working to advance the Democratic Party as a whole. She pointed to AOC and Sanders' "Fighting Oligarchy Tour" as a "good idea," but one that ultimately was constructed just to boost the brands of the two lawmakers. AOC and Sanders have been crisscrossing the country on the tour, bringing their left-wing message to crowds of thousands. "[The tour] kind of makes people be like, 'Oh, it's about them, right?' Instead of the team," Crockett said. Crockett ultimately withdrew from the race for the Oversight Committee spot after comments she made regarding supporting a potential Trump impeachment sent shockwaves through swing-district Democrats. Crockett has a history of making insulting comments about Republicans and Trump. She was accused of mocking wheelchair-bound Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as "Governor Hot Wheels" in March. "We in these hot a-- Texas streets, honey. Y'all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a-- mess, honey!," she said at a March Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles. Crockett infamously got into a nasty fight with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., which featured both lawmakers lobbing schoolyard-level insults. The shouting match began when Greene insulted Crockett's "fake eyelashes." Things only devolved from there, with the Texas Democrat launching into a verbal assault about Greene's "bleach-blond, bad-built, butch body." Crockett went on to sell merchandise based around the insults. Crockett, Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett insists ‘granddaddy' Biden's acuity ‘supreme' compared to Trump

Firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett defended former President Joe Biden's mental acuity and argued that his cognition was 'supreme' compared to President Trump during a recent podcast interview. Shrugging off bombshell revelations about Biden's decline from the new book 'Original Sin' and elsewhere, Crockett (D-Texas) underscored that she 'never saw anything' from the 46th president that caused her to question his infirmity. 'Even if we want to say — which I refuse to accept — that Joe Biden was mentally deficient, let me tell you something, his mental deficiency is still a thousand times better than what we currently have,' Crockett said on Katie Couric's 'Next Question' podcast in an episode that dropped Thursday. Advertisement 'I just wish that, ultimately, this country would judge each of our leaders with the same measuring stick.' Questions about Biden's cognitive abilities reached a fever pitch almost exactly a year ago in the aftermath of his fumbling debate performance against Trump, in which he repeatedly lost his train of thought and appeared stone-faced at times, mouth agape. 3 The Texas congresswoman said in her personal experience with him, former President Joe Biden seemed fine. Getty Images for SiriusXM Advertisement 3 The former president was poised to attend an African Methodist Episcopal church in Galveston, Texas, to celebrate Juneteenth on Thursday. AP The stunning debate prompted a revolt among Democrats that ultimately culminated with Biden dropping out of the race in July of last year. Recently, those dramatic events have been revisited in the bombshell book 'Original Sin' by star Axios reporter Alex Thompson and CNN anchor Jake Tapper, triggering soul searching among Democrats over Biden, who announced his prostate cancer diagnosis last month. On Wednesday, the GOP-led Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Biden's use of autopen and his supposed cognitive decline. The House Oversight Committee is conducting a similar probe. Advertisement Crockett had stood by Biden during the Democratic revolt last summer. She likened his condition to that of her grandmother, whom the rep said 'mentally she was still there' despite aging and slowing down. 3 President Trump has publicly bashed Rep. Jasmine Crockett. AP 'We all slow down. But I will tell you that I will take a broken — or however they want to describe Joe Biden — over Donald Trump any given day, because, number one, I know Joe Biden's heart,' the Texas Democrat contended. 'Even if you're saying that there was a mentally deficient Joe Biden, I know that he absolutely had a mental acuity that is supreme when it comes to comparing him to Donald Trump, because at least he kept good people around him.' Advertisement The outspoken Texas congresswoman also recalled her personal interactions with Biden to argue that he was not in significant decline during his time running the country. 'The average person has not been given the level of access that the average member of Congress has to the president,' she explained. 'I never saw anything in Joe Biden that made me wonder whatsoever, and it's not that I was with Joe Biden every single day, that's for sure. But as I talked about my grandparents — the way that I would describe Joe is like, I mean, he's a granddaddy, right?'
