First dermatology conference held in Al Sharqiyah North
AL MUDHAIBI: The First Dermatology Conference in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate emphasised the need to advance dermatological care across healthcare institutions by adopting modern diagnostic and treatment technologies; and promoting collaboration among various health sectors through the implementation of international treatment protocols.
Organised by the Directorate General of Health Services in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, the conference brought together a group of consultants and specialists in dermatology from various health institutions across the Sultanate of Oman.
The event, held in Al Mudhaibi under the auspices of Saud bin Amer al Nazairi, Director General of Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Health, aimed to strengthen the professional competencies of healthcare workers by discussing the latest developments in dermatology and contemporary treatment protocols. It also sought to encourage the exchange of expertise regarding recent advancements in the field and their impact on improving diagnostic and treatment skills. Additionally, the conference provided an opportunity to showcase the latest skincare and cosmetic products from pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic and laser companies, while highlighting topics such as drug interactions and the roles of pharmacists and nurses in primary healthcare settings.
A series of working papers were presented, with ten prominent papers addressing developments in the treatment of skin diseases, skin cancers, pharmaceutical advancements and reviews of local cases involving genetic skin conditions, dermatological manifestations of internal diseases and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Other topics included the role of gut microbes in dermatological conditions, contradictions in cosmetic dermatology and pediatric skin diseases. — ONA
