Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett will have a lot of responsibility this season.
Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett will have a lot of responsibility this season. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns have one of the best defensive players in the league in Myles Garrett, and he could have an even bigger role after his four-year, $160 million extension with the team back in March. Advertisement In an interview last week, Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said, "with great power comes great responsibility" when talking about the team's defensive superstar. On a recent episode of the Terry's Talkin' podcast with Terry Pluto, he explained what he thought this Spider-Man reference meant. "I don't think he means so much leadership," Pluto said. "I mean, at this point, Myles' personality is not going to change a whole lot. This is what you got, but that ... he thinks that Myles is set to have his best year... (Schwartz) said he thought Myles would respond with his best season ever with the contract and all that." Garrett has been one of the best players in the league on either side of the ball the past several seasons, and his contract extension is going to be yet another motivation for him to be even better. This past season, the 29-year-old edge rusher finished with 14.5 sacks, as well as leading the NFL in tackles for loss with 22. As a result, he was named First Team All-Pro for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Advertisement It will be hard for him to improve on a season like this, but if there is anyone that can do it, it is Garrett. … and yes, that would be amazing. Stefon Diggs reportedly signs 3-year deal with New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have made a splash at wide receiver, reportedly signing free agent Stefon Diggs to give quarterback Drake Maye a top option in the passing game. Diggs is joining the Patriots on a three-year, $69 million deal with $26 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter . It's a big price to pay for a 31-year-old receiver, especially considering Diggs is coming back from a torn ACL he suffered last October while with the Houston Texans. But the Patriots have been desperate to add a top talent to the receiving corps, and Diggs will give Maye a No. 1 option that can make game-changing plays. Diggs and the Patriots first met last week and he underwent a physical at Gillette Stadium, but he left Foxboro without a contract. Less than a week later, the two sides reached an agreement that will have Diggs catching passes in New England for the next three seasons. Diggs has been a playmaking receiver for the last decade, racking up 10,491 receiving yards for the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans. He was a Pro Bowler in each of his four seasons in Buffalo, and led the NFL with 127 receptions and 1,535 yards in 2020 when he earned First Team All Pro honors. Diggs caught 100 or more passes five times in his career, and he recorded six straight seasons of at least 1,000 receiving yards from 2018-23. He was on his way to a seventh last year for the Texans before he was injured in Week 8. Diggs finished the season with 47 receptions, 496 yards, and three touchdowns in his eight games in 2024. It's unclear when Diggs will be able to play for the Patriots, but he probably won't be ready for the start or training camp and may not be cleared to play before the regular season arrives. But he's an ultra-competitive player who will bring a veteran mind to the receiving room in Foxboro, and when he does play, he'll give New England's second-year quarterback a legitimate target in the passing game. Diggs had some clashes with Josh Allen in Buffalo, but the Bills quarterback spoke fondly of his time with the receiver following his trade to the Texans ahead of last season. His coaches haven't seem ed to mind his attitude either, as most love the competitive fire he brings to the field . Diggs will join a receivers room in New England currently made up of holdovers DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, and Javon Baker, plus free-agent addition Mack Hollins. While he may not be able to practice anytime soon, it will be important to get Diggs to Foxboro to begin building his relationship with Maye. And when he does get on the field, Patriots practices are going to be a lot more competitive with Diggs in the mix.

Stefon Diggs, veteran wide receiver, reportedly visits New England Patriots
The New England Patriots continue their search for wide receiver help, reportedly hosting veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs on a free agent visit. According to Chad Graff of The Athletic , Diggs was in Foxboro Wednesday night to meet with the team. Diggs has racked up 10,491 receiving yards in 10 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. He was in the midst of six straight seasons of 1,000 yards or more before last year when he tore his ACL in October during his first year with the Texans and ended the season with 496 yards. During his career, Diggs has been named to the Pro Bowl four times and received First Team All Pro honors in 2020. Diggs has also developed a reputation as a bit of a high-maintenance personality, clashing at times with quarterback Josh Allen during his time with the Bills. Despite a tumultuous end to the wide receiver's time in Buffalo, Allen had positive things to say about Diggs before the Bills and Texans played Houston last year. "I've got a lot of love for [Diggs]. I still do," Allen said, via the Bills website . "The things that he did for me in my career, and the things that he did in a Buffalo Bill uniform won't be forgotten anytime soon, especially from me." The Patriots are in need of talent at the wide receiver position with Drake Maye headnig into his second season as the team's quarterback. New England signed Mack Hollins in free agency, and has a returning core that includes Pop Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. Still, the group lacks a true No. 1 option, and has struggled to find one in free agency. The Patriots are also likely to attempt to improve the position in the upcoming NFL Draft.
