Allerdale Police issue warning after incidents of arson in Keswick park
ALLERDALE Police are reminding the pubic that setting fires is dangerous, illegal, and will not be tolerated.
Recent incidents of arson have been reported to police in Fitz Park, Keswick, and they are actively investigating each case.
Allerdale police said that parks are not for fires, and are designed to be shared spaces, places where communities can gather, children can play, families can picnic, and nature can be enjoyed by everyone.
A spokesperson for Allerdale Police said: "Unfortunately, deliberately setting fires in our parks is causing real harm. Beyond destroying property, it creates dangerous situations for people, damages facilities we all rely on, and costs our community time and money to repair.
"Every park is a shared investment — built, maintained, and protected for everyone's benefit. When we damage them, we take away something that belongs to all of us.
"Let's choose to protect our parks, respect the spaces we share, and make sure they remain places of beauty and safety for generations to come.
"If you see unsafe behaviour or suspicious activity, please report it. Together, we can keep our parks green, safe, and thriving.
"If anyone has any information in relation to the recent incidents of arson please contact 101 quoting log 61 of August 5."
