All eyes in the horse racing world are on Louisville this weekend as we get set for Saturday's Kentucky Derby, but up first is Friday's Kentucky Oaks, a huge race in its own right. The 1 ⅛ mile race at Churchill Downs is for three-year-old fillies. Last year, Brian Hernandez rode the Kenny McPeek-trained Thorpedo Anna to the win. Tune in on Friday to USA Network to watch the Kentucky Oaks. New grandstand filled with race fans at the clubhouse turn on Kentucky Oaks Day at Churchill Downs on May 3, 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. The current favorite is Good Cheer, ridden by Luis Saez and trained by Brad Cox. At 6-5 odds, a Good Cheer win wouldn't be shocking at all. Cox last won the Oaks in 2020 with Shedaresthedevil. But there are several other horses to keep an eye on. The Bob Baffert-trained Tenma starts from the No. 9 post, which should be an advantage with the No. 8 post open after the Five G scratch. Jockey Juan Hernandez will look to give Baffert his first Kentucky Oaks win since 2017, when Mike E. Smith won riding Abel Tasman. McPeek will look to train consecutive Oaks winners with Take Charge Milady, a horse that's a bit more of a longshot at 15-1. The last trainer to win consecutive Oaks was D. Wayne Lukas, all the way back in 1990 and 1991. Watch the Kentucky Oaks on Friday on USA Network at 1:00 PM EDT. Live stream the Kentucky Oaks on Fubo: Start your free trial now!
