'Scream' reunion! Matthew Lillard surprises Comic-Con with reveal that Skeet Ulrich is joining 'Five Nights at Freddy's 2'

"I can't tell you how honored I am to be a part of this family and to be a part of the fandom now that is really voracious," Ulrich said on the Hall H stage. I scream, you scream, we all scream for Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Matthew Lillard surprised audiences at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 in a video with the news that his Scream costar Skeet Ulrich has joined the cast of the FNAF sequel. "His name is Skeet Ulrich, and he's in the next movie, so welcome him to the stage," Lillard said on Thursday afternoon. "Scream loud! Scream louder! Scream! Thank you, everyone, much love. Enjoy San Diego, have a blast." Ulrich then joined the film's cast on the stage in Hall H. "Thank you for being here," he told the roaring crowd. "I can't tell you how honored I am to be a part of this family and to be a part of the fandom now that is really voracious, so thank you." Ulrich also declined to confirm which character he'll be playing in the horror sequel. "I wish I could, but I was told I cannot," he explained. "I will say I play somebody with a very particular and specific past, and somebody who has a deep emotional tie to what's going on. Other than that, I'm not really allowed to say. " Lillard and Ulrich memorably played the original two Ghostface killers, Stu Macher and Billy Loomis, in the original 1996 Scream. Ulrich reprised his role (in imaginary ghost form) in 2022's Scream and 2023's Scream VI, and Lillard is set to return to the franchise for the first time in the upcoming Scream VII. Lillard appeared in the first Five Nights at Freddy's film in 2023, playing career counselor Steve Raglan — who was later revealed to be William Afton, the movie's main antagonist. Although he was defeated at the conclusion of the first movie, Lillard's character is returning in the Hutcherson, Piper Rubio, and Elizabeth Lail are all reprising their roles from the first movie, while Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Teo Briones (Final Destination Bloodlines), Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone), and Wayne Knight (Seinfeld) are all joining the franchise in the second installment. Nickelodeon Five Nights at Freddy's 2 The sequel from Blumhouse sees an unsuspecting group pull up to the creepy pizzeria, not knowing about the killer, life-like animatronics with nothing but evil in store. Yes, there's a notorious killer out there named "Big Baby" and it looks like Sweet Tooth is going to hunt him down now, too. Michael James Shaw stars as Axel in season 2 of Twisted Metal on Peacock. Peacock The next clip finds John Doe being vulnerable as he talks about living a life without any childhood memories. But, as he realizes, things could be much worse if he had all that knowledge. ‘Five Nights at Freddy's 2' Lures Fans In by Taking Us Back to Where It All Began

Universal Pictures and Blumhouse were on hand at San Diego Comic-Con to give attendees a sneak preview of Five Nights at Freddy's 2. Returning stars Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) and Piper Rubio (For All Mankind), who play the film franchise's central brother and sister roles, Mike and Abby, were on hand to share some insight on what the siblings have been up to since the events of the first film. 'Mike and Abby went through a lot,' Hutcherson explained. 'Mike is just wanting to get back to somewhat of a normal life, but that just can't happen in Freddy's world. Mike, in a way, is trying to fake it till you make it without fully working through all that stuff that happened, and then it happens to him again! Poor Mike.' Hutcherson added that while he's not deeply informed of the lore, he does lean on his co-star Piper Rubio (who plays his sister Abby) as the resident expert, adding, 'I am existing as Mike and experiencing it, but I do glean some things from Piper's insight.' But he did reveal that his favorite character from the universe is Mangle, and gave the Jim Henson Creature Shop credit where it's due for making another Five Nights at Freddy's icon really stand out in the practical ways the legendary monster maker can. 'What Jim Henson's puppeteering team and the creators and designers brought to life with Mangle,' Hutchinson continued, 'it's such another level of puppeteering and complicated everything. It's just so cool to see that brought to life.' While William Afton always comes back, the cinematic Afton, Matthew Lillard, was not on hand to discuss FNAF's big bad at Comic-Con but did introduce his partner in slashers for the sequel, Skeet Ulrich (the other half of their Scream duo), via video. Ulrich has been the center of fan theories of him playing Henry Emily, the co-owner of the Five Nights at Freddy's pizza franchise alongside Afton, and his answer feels like he's all but saying this is probably the case. 'I play somebody with a very particular and specific past,' Ulrich teased, adding, 'And with a very deep emotional tie to what's going on.' Before the panel closed out, director Emma Tammi and producer Jason Blum introduced an extended clip that feels very Scream, in the sense that Gen Z starlet McKenna Grace is featured as the host of a paranormal investigator channel whose crew gets to visit the first Five Nights at Freddy's location… the one where it all went wrong. You kind of get the feeling that she might be the Drew Barrymore of the film's opening, as she gets a super creepy security guard to tour them through the wreckage. The parlor itself is great; there's a moat complete with a sunken, decayed boat, which makes me jealous that my local pizza parlor didn't have one of those. The bridge and the in-the-round style of the original location make it feel like a demented Disneyland—it looks right out of the game, and you can't help but want to see what doom is hidden behind the urban decay of the pizza company's sordid past. Grace's character pushes the guard for more details about a very special animatronic that was only at that specific location—the Marionette. The crowd buzzed at the mention of the game's fan favorite. She recounts its lore, describing how it would rise from a trapdoor to direct the show on occasion. As her channel partners record, they notice that the security guard has led them to the stage with the iconic animatronics, and under the tarp it's pretty obvious they look bizarrely like new models ready for more terror trap mayhem. Alas, the clip cuts away before we find out the real reason why they were led there, but we can tell it's definitely bad news. We'll have to wait until this holiday season to find out just why the haunted world of Five Nights at Freddy's has reopened for more bloody business. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opens December 5, 2025! But it is only a matter of time before Eleanor will be forced to take a bloody revenge. Bamber plays Eleanor's sister Beatrice, and Suter is Edward's squire and Beatrice's suitor Richard.' In conversation with Jake's Takes (via Screen Rant), actress Sara Sampaio revealed a scene of Ultraman punching Krypto the Superdog was cut from the final edit of Superman because 'it did really bad in the test screening.' Well, they cut Ultraman punching Krypto. Because, apparently, it did really bad in the test screening. During a recent interview with The Direct, Jared Harris stated he 'really wish[es] people would stop asking' him about the long-promised third Robert Downey, Jr. Sherlock Holmes movie set in the American West. Yeah. I mean, I keep taking that down [on IMDb] and someone keeps putting it back up. I have no idea. No one's talking to me about it. And I really wish people would stop asking me…It should be on there. I mean, no one's talking to me about it. I have no clue. According to Bloody-Disgusting, the new I Know What You Did Last Summer has been rated R for 'bloody horror violence, language throughout, some sexual content, and brief drug use.' Dave Bautista, Olga Kurlyenko, and Samuel L. Jackson search for the whereabouts of the Mona Lisa after a solar flare turns Earth into a radioactive wasteland in the trailer for Afterburn. Variety reports Amy Sedaris has joined the cast of Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action/animated TV series based on Disney's Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Sedaris is said to play the mother of Ryder Allen's character, Taylor, though further details are currently unavailable at this time. During a recent interview with The Nerdist (via Comic Book), David Corenswet described HBO's upcoming Green Lantern series as an 'R-rated project' with 'a True Detective feel.' One thing that excites me so much about James' vision for the DCU is the different genres and tones that the movies can take on. And I know people are skeptical that certain genres and characters can mix. I would love to see this Superman in an R-rated project. In a detective, you know, in a thing like Lanterns, where it's a True Detective feel. I just think it can happen in spite of how bright and playful this version of the character is. Finally, Apple TV+ has released a trailer for the third season of Invasion, premiering this August 22. Want more io9 news?
