‘Demon Slayer: Mugen Train' returns to Indian theatres in 4K this June

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train, the global anime blockbuster, is set to return to theatres in India on June 13, 2025, in a newly remastered 4K version. The re-release comes ahead of the highly anticipated Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle, which hits Indian theatres on September 12. Distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, Mugen Train will screen in Japanese with English subtitles. Fans attending the screenings will also get an exclusive first look at the upcoming Infinity Castle film, the first in a three-part cinematic finale to the popular anime series. Originally released in 2020, Mugen Train follows Tanjiro Kamado and his companions as they join Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku to investigate a string of disappearances aboard a mysterious train. The story picks up directly after the events of the anime's first season. The film has broken numerous records since its debut, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese anime film worldwide with over $500 million at the global box office. It holds a 98% critic score and a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and one of the most successful anime films of all time. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki and animated by studio ufotable, Mugen Train is based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotoge. The series, serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2020, has sold over 150 million copies and continues to be a major force in anime globally. The re-release offers Indian audiences a rare chance to experience the film on the big screen once again, now enhanced in 4K and paired with a preview of what's to come in the franchise's epic conclusion.
