LG unveils stretchable car display that transforms into buttons: Know how it works
The future of automotive displays took a leap forward at the ongoing SID Display Week 2025 in San Jose, California, where LG unveiled an innovative stretchable display designed specifically for the automotive industry. This new display, featured under the theme 'Driving the Future,' marks a significant advancement in how we interact with screens in vehicles, which blends futuristic technology with practicality. A Display That Transforms with a Touch LG's stretchable automotive display, mounted on the vehicle's centre fascia, can expand by up to 50 percent without compromising its resolution or colour quality. It maintains 100 ppi and full RGB quality, making it both large and immersive. What sets it apart from traditional displays is its ability to morph from a flat surface into a tactile interface with physical buttons. This flexibility allows users to seamlessly switch from a minimal design to one that provides real-world usability with the convenience of physical controls. The company confirmed it has already provided a 40-inch version of this display to automakers. Furthermore, LG is developing an 18-inch Slidable OLED display for rear-seat entertainment, retracting into the ceiling when not in use, and designed to perform in extreme temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 certification reveals their battery capacities
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in early July, and ahead of that the duo has undergone UL Demko certification in Denmark, which has revealed their battery capacities. The Fold7 has two batteries, 2,126 mAh and 2,146 mAh rated capacities, respectively, making for a total of 4,272 mAh. This is likely to be marketed as 4,400 mAh typical capacity by Samsung, which means the Fold7's battery capacity will be unchanged from that of its predecessor. Galaxy Z Fold7 (left) and Galaxy Z Flip7 (right) UL Demko certifications The Flip7's cells are 1,189 mAh and 2,985 mAh, for a total of 4,174 mAh, which is probably going to be marketed as 4,300 mAh typical capacity. This would mark a 300 mAh increase compared to the Flip6, which isn't outstanding but it's still nice to have. It's unclear why Samsung still refuses to up the Fold's battery capacity, which has been the exact same 4,400 mAh since the Fold3 launched in 2021 (and we should also mention that the Fold2's battery was actually 100 mAh larger at 4,500 mAh). Anyway, speaking of things Samsung doesn't want to change, both the Fold7 and Flip7 will only support 25W wired charging, unchanged since the Flip4 in 2022 and the Galaxy Z Fold2 in 2020, respectively. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 just tipped to feature taller and wider screen
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 could feature a slightly bigger screen compared to the Z Flip 6. Regular tipster, Max Jambor, posted a somewhat cryptic tweet with what appears to be the screen dimensions for the forthcoming clamshell phone. The tweet simply reads: B7 Display: 161.57 x 69.96 mm. That's about 6.36 inches x 2.63 inches. This a reference to the main screen when the clamshell is open. Jambor did not provide any dimensions for the cover display. As the publication Sammy Guru notes, the B7 is reportedly an internal Samsung code for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Sammy Guru claims the cover screen will be bigger covering the entire backside of the phone's upper half. In comparison, the Z Flip 6 is 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9mm when opened, so the leak suggests this year's iteration will be slightly taller and wider at 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm. Sammy Guru also calculated the phone's aspect ratio based on the dimensions for a slightly wider one at 22:9.53, compared to 22:9 of the Flip 6. It all hints at a slightly taller and wider phone with probably thinner bezels. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. In a smaller leak, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature a 4,300 mAh battery, which is bigger than the one in its predecssor. Meanwhile the bookstyle Galaxy Z Fold 7 will allegedly feature a 4,272 mAh battery in total, comprised of two secondary Li-ion batteries. In another tweet, Jambor also says the Galaxy Z lineup has entered mass production. This means that Samsung should be ready for its usual Galaxy Unpacked summer event which will likely take place in early July.
