Federal govt approves RM200mil for Terengganu coastal erosion mitigation

KUALA BERANG: The gederal government has approved RM200 million to expedite coastal erosion mitigation efforts in Terengganu, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said the immediate approval was granted after Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar raised the matter with him. Anwar also commended the relevant agencies, including the Public Works Department (PWD), for their swift action in implementing the coastal protection project. "I take this opportunity to clarify the situation because sometimes what we do is different from what is alleged by certain quarters. "Differences in opinion are acceptable, but slander and negative assumptions are not, as they contradict the reality on the ground. "Do not be influenced by claims that the federal government is not assisting Terengganu in terms of development," he said during the launch of the Floating Solar Hydro Hybrid and Green Hydrogen Hub development project in Terengganu, held at the Sultan Mahmud Power Station in Kenyir today. Also present were Ahmad Samsuri, Energy Transition and Water Transformation Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir; TNB chairman Tan SriAbdul Razak Abdul Majid, Petronas chairman Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh, TNB president and chief executive officer Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan; and Petronas group president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz.
