Dalglish's message to Liverpool signings Wirtz, Frimpong, Kerkez in Hong Kong
Liverpool great Kenny Dalglish has expressed his hope for the club's costly summer recruits after joining them in Hong Kong for this week's start to the city's Football Festival. Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili and US$156 million British-record signing Florian Wirtz were all in the Liverpool party that touched down on Monday, ahead of Saturday's pre-season friendly match against AC Milan at Kai Tak Stadium And former Reds player and manager Dalglish urged them to brush off any pressure in joining the Premier League champions. It is 41 years since Liverpool last won consecutive league titles, but Dalglish told the Post the challenge in the coming season should be welcomed by Arne Slot's side, adding that the summer spend showed the club's 'hunger for success'. Liverpool to enter talks over MASSIVE €70m offer
Liverpool could soon strike a deal on the back of a €70m offer. Talks are now set. Liverpool have been spectacularly busy in this transfer window. They've broken their transfer record, of course, by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. Then there are the two most expensive full-backs in club history as Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez arrived. Now they're on the brink of signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. Those are just the incomings, too. Trent Alexander-Arnold was sold to Real Madrid with just one month to run on his contract, while Caoimhin Kelleher has joined Brentford after pushing for a move for a couple of years now. Jarell Quansah was something of a surprise exit. He's off to Leverkusen, with Liverpool striking a deal that offers a buy-back clause. A lot of major transfers, then, that sees cash flowing in both directions. And the Reds certainly aren't finished there. Liverpool to enter Luis Diaz talks ESPN reports that Bayern Munich are on the brink of making another offer for Luis Diaz. The German giants have already seen one rejected. That initial offer, says the report, stood at around €67.5m. Liverpool quickly said no and now Bayern will try again at €70m before add-ons. It's long been reported that Liverpool would accept around €80m for Diaz and this new offer will get awfully close to that. The Colombian is pushing for the move, too, which might just make a difference here, especially if he's willing to waive a loyalty bonus by making a transfer request. This offer should arrive 'in the coming days' as Bayern look to get their priority signing sorted. Talks will happen and it sounds as though they could be successful.

'He's clearly on a mission' - your views on Nunez
We asked for your views on whether Darwin Nunez still has a part to play at Liverpool this season. The forward scored a hat-trick against Stoke in a pre-season friendly on Sunday and found the net when the Reds beat Preston in a friendly in the previous are some of your comments:Andy: I would definitely keep Nunez for at least another season. The boy's a Nunez should stay, he contributed a lot to our achievement in the Premier League and is currently our main striker. Hugo Ekitike has not played in the Premier League. He will first need to adapt to our system of play which Nunez already If we can't get rid of him he's good to have on the I've been saying for some time that all Nunez needs is someone to trust him and push him forward. In Florian Wirtz, I believe Liverpool have found that person. It would be wrong of Arne Slot to offload Nunez at this stage. He's proven he can get into great areas to score and my guess is that he'll be used more as his confidence and subsequent goals increase. Nunez seems clearly on a mission and I think he's going to achieve it this Keep him, looks like he has settled at last.A D Hilder: In my mind Darwin Nunez should stay. He's had his problems in front of goal but is he now coming good? Liverpool should keep Darwin until at least January to see how he performs. Replacing him with Isak is a lot of S: While I appreciate he is getting goals, he has proven that he fluffs his lines against the bigger teams. No ill will, but he needs to progress his career It's a pity it hasn't worked out as we had all hoped it would have. The truth is we can't rely on him scoring goals especially in those tight games where we require a match-winning goal. I feel it's time for him to move on and enjoy his football elsewhere. He needs to rebuild his confidence.

Florian Wirtz Liverpool transfer sparks bitter row as Bayer Leverkusen chief hits out
Liverpool pipped Bayern Munich to the signing of Florian Wirtz last month for a British transfer record of £116.5m in a major coup, but Borussia Dortmund's chief believes the decision weakened the Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen chief Fernando Carro has hit back at his Borussia Dortmund counterpart after criticising the club for selling Florian Wirtz to Liverpool instead of Bayern Munich. Wirtz eventually joined Liverpool in a British record £116.5million deal but the player looked destined to join Bundesliga rivals Bayern after his incredible recent seasons that inspired Leverkusen to their first ever league title in 2024. But the playmaker had a change of heart after speaking with Reds boss Arne Slot as he linked up with the Premier League champions. Leverkusen's decision to sell to a team in a different league was met with opposition by Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke, who said the situation was a "real shame" because it made the Bundesliga a weaker division. "It's a real shame, especially for the DFL, that a player like Florian Wirtz is leaving the Bundesliga,' Watzke told Kicker. "I wouldn't have had a problem at all if he had gone to FC Bayern. "That would have been better for the Bundesliga. It doesn't really matter for the national team. He'll play at the highest level in Liverpool, too. "He could have worked better with (Jamal) Musiala in Munich, but two such good footballers can find each other anyway." But Carro said he "didn't understand" how a top German club in Dortmund would want Bayern to get stronger by signing another top player from the Bundesliga - and said by selling to Liverpool it ensured the division remained more competitive. "Honestly, yes. I have a different opinion than Hans-Joachim Watzke,' Sarro said, speaking to Welt am Sonntag. "I don't understand how he, as the boss of Borussia Dortmund, could have been happy if Wirtz had gone to Munich. "That would have made Bayern even stronger. I want an exciting Bundesliga. I'm happy when more clubs – besides us – make life difficult for Bayern, because I believe that benefits the Bundesliga." It comes after the player's father - also called Hans-Joachim - revealed how Slot convinced Wirtz to join Liverpool after laying out his vision to the youngster and explaining how he would fit into his tactical set-up at Anfield. "Arne Slot presented his playing philosophy, the team tactics in possession and pressing, and how Florian can develop his strengths in these areas," he said. "This made a decisive impression on Florian. The training conditions in Liverpool were also totally impressive." Liverpool seal Hugo Ekitike deal worth €95 million from Eintracht Frankfurt
Liverpool have sealed the signing of a new striker from Eintracht Frankfurt. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on July 21, 2025, 18:43 IST Liverpool have sealed the signing of a new striker from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Reds aren't stopping this summer transfer window as they have bought one midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen, namely Florian Wirtz (€100 million+ deal) and now a striker from Frankfurt named Hugo Ekitike (€95 million deal). The deal is done and sealed, only the official announcement is pending. Liverpool were the champions of PL 2024/25 season under Arne Slot and now the manager wants a complete change of the squad to think of the future. Liverpool are not slowing down in the summer transfer window, having sealed the signing of highly-rated striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a blockbuster €95 million deal. While the official announcement is still pending, the deal is understood to be done and dusted. Ekitike becomes Liverpool's second major signing of the window following the €100 million+ arrival of midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The two signings signal the club's clear intent to reshape their squad for the future under Arne Slot. Slot, who led the Reds to a sensational Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, is aiming to build a new era at Anfield. The Dutch manager is reportedly pushing for a younger, dynamic squad capable of dominating for years to come, and Ekitike's addition fits perfectly into that vision. The French forward impressed in the Bundesliga with his pace, technical ability, and eye for goal, attracting interest from several top clubs before Liverpool swooped in to secure his signature.
