You Can Now Earn Delta SkyMiles On Uber
Uber users get Delta SkyMiles.
Uber
Why use Uber just for rides and Uber Eats only for food deliveries?
As of this Thursday, customers can look to the app we all rely on to rack up Delta SkyMiles at the same time. Yes, it's true, and Uber happens to be the airline's exclusive rideshare and delivery partner.
Here's how this cool collaboration works: Uber customers can use their Delta SkyMiles to reserve or upgrade Delta flights, book hotels, and shop with select brands.
Now to the miles: Use Uber Eats, and you get 1 mile per dollar spent on restaurant and grocery orders of more than $40. You earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on UberX rides to and from the airport. On premium rides like Uber Comfort and Uber Black, it's 2 miles. For Uber Reserve, you can get a nice 3 miles per dollar.
But there's more: coming up, Uber will be featured in the Fly Delta app, which means you can book your airport rides when you book your flight. And later this year, according to the release, 'SkyMiles Members who log in to Delta Sync WiFi when in-flight will receive a special offer for an Uber Reserve ride when they land. And, next month we'll be launching Uber Shuttle at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Customers who have linked their Uber and Delta accounts will be the first to hear.'
Camiel Irving, VP of Operations and GM of Mobility at Uber, said the idea for the partnership was sparked by the number of Uber trips to and from the airport. She said 15% begin or end at an airport, making 'Uber an integral part of the travel experience.' 'This partnership was a natural fit as Uber and Delta are both category leaders committed to shaping the future of travel. We're thrilled to offer our shared customers the opportunity to earn miles at every turn,' she told Forbes.
Irving also noted that Delta is the first domestic airline Uber has partnered with. The company works with Aeroplan in Canada, Qantas in Australia, and Flying Blue in France and the Netherlands.
The partnership benefits Uber users, she said, because 'Our goal is to make it easier than ever for customers to have a connected travel experience from start to finish. By giving customers the opportunity to earn miles when they ride with Uber and order with Uber Eats, we're offering them more ways to get to their destination.'
Delta is just as excited about teaming with Uber. Prashant Sharma, the VP of Loyalty at Delta, said, 'Uber will play a pivotal role in shaping the multi-modal future of travel vision Delta outlined at CES 2025, offering convenient and intuitive service that fits how customers prefer to travel and rewards them along the way.'
'Delta is partnering with category leaders to change what membership looks like in 2025. We are focused on making SkyMiles currency even more valuable: Innovating new ways to earn and redeem miles with Delta AND with unexpected and everyday like-minded brands.'
Sharma added that the partnership expands the value of loyalty. 'It also opens the door for new audiences to find reasons to love SkyMiles, no matter how often they fly,' he said.
