Illegal reflexology and massage operators in Selayang raided
A REFLEXOLOGY and massage centre in Jalan Sri Selayang, Selangor, was ordered to close after being found operating without a valid licence during a raid by authorities.
The operation by Selayang Municipal Council (MPS), carried out at several areas in the municipality, also saw the operator fined RM1,000 under the Beauty and Healthcare Centres By-Laws (MPS) 2007.
During the raid at Uptown Sri Gombak, authorities also took action against nine stall operators offering reflexology and body massage treatments, as well as employing foreign workers without approval.
'MPS confiscated business items including 27 recliner chairs, eight tents, six massage beds and 49 small stools,' it stated on its social media page.
The operation, which was also carried out at the Selayang Hot Springs area, saw seven stalls operating without a licence fined for various offences.
Action was taken under Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries By-Laws (MPS) 2007, Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws 2007 and Hawkers By-Laws 2007.
'MPS will continue to monitor and take legal action to ensure all business activities within the municipality comply with regulations,' the local council said.
In Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) removed two illegal billboard structures during an integrated operation on May 20.
DBKL, in a joint operation with the police and Tenaga Nasional Bhd, dismantled two billboards measuring 6.7m by 3.3m which were installed on road reserve land without approval.
'The owners of the billboard structures had been issued a notice on April 9 and a follow-up notice on May 16 to demolish and clear the site within the stipulated timeframe,' it said in a media statement.
Action was taken under Section 70 of the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.
'This decisive action is part of DBKL's ongoing efforts to improve the city's appearance and ensure that all developments and structures in Kuala Lumpur comply with existing regulations.
'It also supports the goal of reinforcing Kuala Lumpur's image as a well-organised city with strong governance and adherence to the law, especially as preparation for hosting the Asean Summit 2025.
'As the host city, Kuala Lumpur is committed to presenting itself as a well-managed and sustainable urban centre,' the statement added.
The dismantled structures were sent to DBKL's Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department's storage facility in Jalan Cheras for documentation purposes.
