Powerball player just misses $125 million jackpot but wins big prize in Georgia
A Powerball player in Georgia netted a big prize despite missing the game's estimated $125 million jackpot. The lucky player won $50,000 in the Powerball drawing Saturday, May 17, the Georgia Lottery said. The ticket, sold at a Food Mart in Tucker, matched four of five numbers and the Powerball number. Officials didn't say if the prize has been claimed as of May 20. The winning numbers were 7-34-40-42-52 and red Powerball 15, according to the Powerball website. The Power Play multiplier option was 2X. There were no $2 million or $1 million winners, and no one hit the jackpot, results show. The grand prize rose to an estimated $135 million for the drawing May 19 but ultimately went unclaimed. Winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes on draw games, the Georgia Lottery said. Players are encouraged to sign the back of their ticket. Tucker is about a 20-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta. What to know about Powerball To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball. The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338. Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state. Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online. Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Pensacola police investigating shots fired at Pace Blvd. gas station
The Pensacola Police Department is investigating a report of shots fired at a local gas station. According to a PPD spokesperson, the incident occurred shortly before noon at the 24/7 Food Mart at Pace Boulevard and Cervantes Street. The incident occurred int he parking lot, but there are no reported shooting victims and no immediate information about possible suspects. The scene is currently taped off while officers investigate. Anyone with information on the incident can report it at Crime Stoppers at 850-433-STOP or text a tip using the P3 App on a smartphone. For the second time this week, one Mississippi lottery player will be a little richer after Wednesday's Powerball drawing. The winning ticket, purchased in Mendenhall, was for $2 million. On Monday, a winning ticket worth $10 million was purchased at a convenience store in Petal. To date, it is the largest lottery payout since the state's first lottery tickets were sold in late 2019. The purchaser also purchased a $1 Power Play option, drawing the number 2 as the multiplier, which doubled the prize to $2 million.
