The Devil Is A Lie...and Is Also In Eggs: Get Into These Mamas And Their Deviled Eggs

The Devil Is A Is Also In Eggs: Get Into These Mamas And Their Deviled Eggs Today, we're gonna see three Black contestants step up to the plate and see if they will have their Black card removed or kept intact as we're testing deviled eggs on 'Food Swap.' Jameen, Stephanie, and Eugenia are in-studio ready to taste each other's deviled eggs and from the looks of it, something tells me these three ladies can throw down. But, as we've seen in previous episodes, looks can be deceiving. Stephanie opened up the competition letting our audiences know and reminding them that Black people are innovative, creative, and have the power to turn something simple into something magical. Now, let's start with Eugenia. So she serves a taco-styled version of a deviled egg. Hmm, unique, different, but intrigued. She has the yolk out, of course, and adds onion, garlic, smoked paprika, mayo, a little bit of mustard, topped with a dorito and french onion. Now, this is a bold move. Let's see what the ladies have to say. Stephanie leads with how 'interesting' it looks, before sharing she doesn't think the yolk has been fully cooked while Jameen says it's 'very different.' Stephanie kept up her shade, ending her sentiments with calling the submission 'raggedy.' Oh honey. That was nasty shade (laughs). They both agreed it's a kid friendly snack (shady boots) but they aren't mad at it. Final score: 12 Next, we have Miss Shady Queen herself, Stephanie. You know I always say, the ones with the most mouths, their food tends to go south but let's see what her opponents have to say. She made her opponents her Sofrito deviled eggs – some dijon mayonnaise, mustard, chopped pickles, onions, and added rosemary for a decorative touch. Okay, let's see. Jameen called Stephanie's submission 'fancy' and a holiday vibe while Eugenia doesn't seem phased nor impressed, especially with the rosemary touch Stephanie added. After their first bites, Jameen tastes the onions but shares how the salt was heavy while Eugenia says the crunch in the egg is 'overpowering' the flavor. Whew, see what happens when you talk too much. Anywho, the final score is in. Final score: 10 Jameen's submission stuck to the original recipe with her deviled eggs having some pickled relish, paprika, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, and salt. It's a nice, simple traditional deviled egg. Stephanie is still in her shady bag pre-judging the deviled egg, calling it 'mushy,' while Eugenia said they look 'appetizing.' First bites are in and Eugenia is rocking with the egg while Stephanie, still grasping at straws with her opinions chile (haha). Verdict is in and Jameen scored at 11. Eugenia takes home the gold and it was a close one between her and Jameen. I'll definitely be going to their cookouts for deviled eggs – Jameen, hit my line girl so I can get one this summer. As for Stephanie, maybe you can make the salad and add some rosemary in it. Anyways, I'm gonna go find Jameen's number but ya'll go ahead and see the shade of it all in the video below.

Slimy Comments, Fraud Contestants, And Lots Of Banku: Let's Get Into This Okra Stew 'Food Swap'

Slimy Comments And Banku: Let's Get Into This Okra Stew 'Food Swap' Today we have 3 Ghanaians making their versions of okra stew – the contestants we have for this episode of 'Food Swap' are Gabriella, David, and Eugenia. They break down the origin of okra stew, with Eugenia putting us on that it 'hails from the Volta region of Ghana' and shares its ingredients: a blend of peppers, okra, and it's the consistency of the sliminess and it must be served with banku. Banku is a half cassava, half corn dough mixture that you can eat with your hands (or if you're bougie like Eugenia, use a spoon. I'll take one please.). Eugenia kicks us off with her okra stew, whose recipe was passed down by her aunt. She keeps the traditional ingredients the same within her stew and also adds cow meat. To get the 'maximum sliminess,' she used baking soda. Time for the bites. Gabriella has her sentiments on the okra stew, calling it 'slippery' while David seems to be ready to eat. Gabriella said she would eat this while David says the banku tastes 'three days old.' Yikes. Now, David has a lot of comments to say so hopefully his okra stew is good. Final score: 14.5 Now, it's David's turn and after running down the ingredients he used from tomatoes, onions, and peppers, he shares he added meat to his and used goat's meat. He also used Welle, which is known as cow tripe made from cow's feet. Take to eat and Eugenia was appalled he had no banku on the plate. Gabriella seemed positive and while she's not a fan of Walle, she still was down to give it a try. Eugenia took her bite and wasn't feeling it, saying it was 'too salty.' Gabriella says while David's is better than Eugenia's, it's not as slimy and it's smoky. Errrrrgh – we were bamboozled folks. Gabriella picked up what was supposed to be meat, and it was just…the cow's skin. Not the food catfishing – a mess. Final score: 10.5 Now, it's Gabriella's turn. She learned how to make okra stew from her mother and she made sure to use palm oil in the stew while adding cow's feet, turkey necks, and goat with crab meat and scotch bonnet for that spice. Time to eat! First looks and they were gagged. It gave 10/10 for the presentation. Okay Gabriella . Now, first bites are in – David jumped up and gagged at how good it was. It was all smiles and positive vibes – David had to go to the green room to finish chile. Final score: 17 NOW WAIT A MINUTE — DUN DUN DUN Before we wrapped the episode, David gets disqualified. But, I won't tell you why – watch the video to find out. I feel like I say this all the time but – who are the talent reps at Cocoa Butter, do ya'll need some help with the casting (laughs). Also – Gabriella, you make vegan versions of that okra stew?

Some Of These Fixins Need Fixin: We're Food Swapping 'Southern Plates'

Some Of These Fixins Need Fixin: We're Food Swapping 'Southern Plates' Today we have Angela (wasn't she in another episode, too?), B. Able, and Deena. While many have their thoughts on what deserves to be on a southern plate and what shouldn't, the one thing we can all agree on is you can't eat everybody's plate – and we'll see who's plate we won't be serving in this episode of 'Food Swap.' Deena is up first and she made some collard greens, yams, baked mac and cheese, baked wings, and potato salad. It looks good (to me), but not to B. Able. He was not feeling and took a bite of the mac and cheese claiming it was 'too cheesy.' Angela, on the other hand, was busting that mac and cheese down but did mention it was 'salty.' They both liked the yams but were not happy with the collard greens nor the baked wing. Deena, A for effort baby. Final score: 13.1 Next is B. Able – and while he was ready to dish out the shade, let's see if he'll be able to take it. His plate, which has a garlic encrusted prime rib roast, baked macaroni and cheese, collard greens with bacon, and garlic hawaiian rolls. The plate looked unappetizing to me, and to the ladies as well. Angela said the plate looked 'sad.' Deena said she can smell some flavors, but is not a fan of the greens. She says they 'aren't seasoned enough.' They both said the meat wasn't flavorful. Now the roll, while burnt, didn't taste too bad to Deena. Final score: 8 Last but not least, we have Angela's plate. Now, Angela's plate – a little shifty because the greens had rosemary on top and I'm not sure why. She had some mac and cheese and turkey wings on the plate, too. B. Able takes a bite of the mac and says it's 'too cheesy' and 'bland' while Deena isn't too mad at it. B. Able did like the greens though, while Deena felt they tasted 'interesting,' yet flavorful. The final thing on the plate was the corn muffin – and immediately no. Deena spit that thang right on out and B. Able said it was 'dry.' Final score: 14 Of course we love to have a surprise guest – and we have our girl Joyce who knows a thing or two about southern plates. She starts off with Deena's plate and she wasn't too mad at it. While the chicken was under seasoned a bit, everything else on the plate was satisfying. She gave our cousin Deena an 8. Next, we have B. Able's plate. She said it gives a good plate to sit in front of the television. An All-American plate if you will. Joyce enjoyed the meat, the collard greens were a bit sour, and the mac and cheese could've used some pepper. She didn't like the bread and gave it a 7. Last but not least – it's Angela's turn and she loved the presentation. She said the collard greens are 'heavenly' but felt the mac and cheese could have some salt and pepper. She gave it a 7.5. This means Angela wins the southern plate competition and did her big one. Check out the fun facial expressions and commentary in the video below.
