Limited-edition FootJoy shoes, TaylorMade NFL golf balls, best new drivers and more

Limited-edition FootJoy shoes, TaylorMade NFL golf balls, best new drivers and more Learn everything you need to know about FootJoy's newest limited-edition shoes, TaylorMade's NFL licensed golf balls and the best new drivers. Last week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the only team event on the PGA Tour schedule and features two rounds of four-ball and two rounds of foursomes, which is commonly referred to as alternate shot. In four-ball, each player uses their own ball to complete the hole, but when both golfers are going to be playing the hole using one ball, teams have to decide which ball to play. The defending champions, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, opted to use the same strategy this year that they used last year and have used in previous Ryder Cups. "If Shane is hitting the approach into the green, I'll probably hit his golf ball off the tee, and then vice versa, he'll hit my golf ball off the tee if I'm hitting the approach," McIlroy said last week before the tournament started. They could do this because the Zurich Classic is one of the very few PGA Tour events where Model Local Rule G-4, commonly referred to as the "One Ball Rule," is not utilized. The rule requires players to use the same make and model of golf ball throughout a round, but at the Zurich Classic, players and teams simply need to complete the hole using the same ball they used off the tee. "We did some testing (on Tuesday) morning back home when we delayed our trip," Lowry said. "I went down to therange, and we both practice at the same place, so both our golf balls are there, and we did some testing and they'repretty similar. We could either use either." Where Lowry and McIlroy's balls play most differently is on approach shots and shots around the green, because even among premium, urethane-covered balls, there are subtle differences in performance. With the season underway across the United States, and with several new golf balls now available in your local shops -- including the Bridgestone e12, Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond, Srixon Q-Star UltiSpeed, TaylorMade Tour Response and Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x -- now is the ideal time to test new models for yourself and find out which gives you the best performance around the green, from the fairway and off the tee.

FootJoy release colorful Legends Series Drop 1 footwear

Over the last several years, FootJoy has done several collaborations and special footwear drops to celebrate and honor events like the Players Championship, U.S. Open and British Open. Now the company has announced it plans several 'Legends Series' releases that showcase the Premiere family of shoes for 2025. The first Legends Series footwear is a limited-edition version of the Packard ($245 at select retailers and that features a floral outsole along with hand-selected, premium leather. If it has been a dreary start to spring in your area and watching the season's first major in Georgia didn't bring enough colorful jolts for you, these shoes should do the trick. Like the standard Packard, the Legends Series Drop 1 edition features a VersaTrax+ outsole. It has replaceable spikes, along with ground-grabbing traction elements with varying levels of firmness, so they can help to keep your feet firmly in place regardless of what type of ground you encounter when you swing. The OrthoLite EcoPlush footbed helps to enhance comfort while the leather upper repels water. In fact, the Legends Series Drop 1 comes with a two-year waterproof warranty. According to FootJoy, three more Legends Series shoes are coming, one in May, another in June and the last one on July 5. Best affordable golf rain pants If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, you have to try out Little Donkey Andy. A ridiculous name, absolutely, but we promise it's worth it. Here's what Golfweek's Travel Editor and Creative Director had to say about these pants: I've become the Pied Piper of Little Donkey Andy, telling anyone who asks all about these fleece-lined weather pants. Found on Amazon, the brand offers several styles, most of them under the label of hiking pants, all of them with belt loops. I have two water resistant pairs (they've never soaked through) for simply cold, damp and windy days, when temps drops into the high 30s and low 40s. - Jason Lusk Best rain golf glove FootJoy is the most popular golf glove on the PGA Tour, so it should come as no surprise that we love their rain golf gloves. Sold as a pair, the QuikDry knit material and autosuede knit palm keep your hands as dry as can be.
