Thousands of people will descend on the capital to cheer on Sarina Wiegman and the Women's Euros winning squad in an open-top bus procession. The homecoming celebrations come after the Lionesses landed back in the UK on Monday just hours after beating Spain in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in Basel, Switzerland. The achievement means marked the first time an England football team had won back-to-back major tournaments and one on foreign soil.

LOOK: Commanders debut alternate uniforms with a nod to the past
Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris wasn't lying when he said he wanted to honor the franchise's historic past. On Wednesday, the long-awaited reveal of Washington's alternate uniforms paid homage to the past. Here's what the back of the jerseys looks like: These are the uniforms the franchise wore during its most successful years, when they were known as the Redskins. The "W" helmet remains, but it has been updated with traditional stripes to resemble the pre-Commanders uniforms. The franchise changed its name to the temporary moniker of the "Football Team" in 2020. Washington remained the Football Team for two seasons until a disastrous rebranding to the Commanders in February 2022. Advertisement While these uniforms are considered alternates for 2025, they are expected to become the primary uniforms for 2026 and beyond, much like what the New York Jets did with their alternates. The Jets wore their throwbacks as alternates in 2023 before they became permanent in 2024. The Commanders will wear the alternate throwbacks three times next season: Week 9 vs. Seattle: Sunday Night Football Week 13 vs. Denver: Sunday Night Football Week 17 vs. Dallas: Christmas Day The only negative: Waiting until Week 9 to see the Commanders in these uniforms.
