Thomas Tuchel: England players well aware they were below-par against Andorra
England boss Thomas Tuchel says his players are well aware that they were below-par in their 1-0 victory over Andorra on Saturday. Tuchel's side came under criticism for their performance in Saturday's World Cup qualifier, where Harry Kane scored the only goal in the second half. Tuchel said: 'I think there was common sense straight after in the dressing room. 'We all shared the same feeling. We have to look at the side, we created an xG of four. If you look at the sides who played Andorra, we had more xG than them but failed to convert chances, being clinical and our efficiency, accuracy in our chances. 'We underperformed clearly in the physical input in the game which you could see on the sideline and the data. We didn't run enough.' Tuchel admitted the performance did not match the standards he has been trying to set since he took over as England boss. He added: 'I protect my players, I said no names of players. We as a team didn't match our standards. 'I didn't like the last 10 minutes, I felt on the sidelines. We didn't play seriously enough to win it in the end and what we needed to do in a World Cup qualifier. 'Everything I say here I say to the players, why should I sugar coat? There is no harm done, we can have criticism and I believe a group of players in football can speak honestly to each other. 'I always include myself in that – now it's on us to do better. The attitude towards training and the camp and commitment is outstanding. Everybody wanted to be there and be involved, they wanted to start and wanted to play. We will analyse and try to do better.'

Pakistan to face off Myanmar in AFC Asian Cup qualifier on Tuesday
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will face off Myanmar on Tuesday to qualify for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup tournament, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said on Sunday. For the latest updates, follow us @ArabNewsSport The Pakistan team arrived in Yangon via private airline flight on Sunday, according to the PFF. They will train in Yangon on Monday. 'The match between Pakistan and Myanmar will be held at Thuwana Stadium,' it said. 'It will start at 3:30 PM according to Pakistani time.' Pakistan have been training under the supervision of head coach Stephen Constantine in hopes of bouncing back from a 2-0 defeat to Syria in the campaign opener back in March. Pakistan are placed in Group E alongside Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Syria.

England face Thomas Tuchel dressing down after ‘playing with fire'
England players face a dressing down from head coach Thomas Tuchel after he accused them of 'playing with fire' and promised to spell out exactly what is expected from his squad in a team meeting on Sunday. Tuchel insisted that he had no problem with his team being booed at half-time and full-time of the laboured 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over minnows Andorra. Captain Harry Kane scored the winning goal, but Tuchel did not try to put a positive spin on the performance or the result. 'I didn't like the attitude, how we ended the game,' said Tuchel. 'I liked the attitude, how we started, the first 25 minutes, but I didn't like the last 25, 30. I think we lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier. I think we played with fire. I didn't like the attitude in the end. I didn't like the body language. It was not what the occasion needed. 'I think in the end, we played with fire, honestly. I felt it almost like in a cup game where the favourite does not smell the danger. I didn't feel a team that was aware it was only 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier. We were not happy with ourselves. Step by step the energy dropped when we needed exactly the opposite. But we couldn't deliver and so we got away with a win. 'I think we still deserved the win and we've got three wins and three clean sheets. OK, we will not stop encouraging them and make clear after we have a proper look at the match what we want from them. We need to look at it in detail and do better on Tuesday (against Senegal).' 'England fans booing is OK' The 8,000 travelling England fans inside Espanyol's RCDE Stadium in Barcelona booed Tuchel's team off at half-time, when the game was goalless, and also booed at full-time following the narrow victory. Asked about the booing, Tuchel said: 'The booing is OK. First of all, the support was amazing, unbelievable, it created a fantastic atmosphere for a match like this. When I came out, straightaway I was excited, they made it a very special atmosphere. 'They were underwhelmed and not happy with our performance, especially with how we ended the first half. I don't think we can blame them for that. We cannot even blame them for how we ended the match. The opposite, I thought they were fantastic for the whole match.' England's narrow victory meant Tuchel became the first Three Lions manager to start with three wins without conceding a goal, but the German took little consolation from that. He also refused to use the fact that the Andorra game came at the end of a long club season for his players as an excuse. 'The (international) window is the window so no excuses or nothing,' said Tuchel. 'The clubs don't like the window and even for the national teams, it's not an easy window because they come from holiday or a long season. But still, I think we can and have to do better over the 90 minutes. 'We played 25 minutes where I had the feeling that it was a matter of time before we scored where we created the chances. But we lost this momentum completely and the last 20 minutes of the first half. We started OK, maybe, in the second half but we lost this momentum again. 'We created an xG of three and underperformed with one goal, which is very unusual in a match like this where you usually overperform an xG. Normally if you create three, you score five, if you create two, you score four, by individual quality and finishing. But with a lack of energy and a lack of quality in these moments, at the end of both halves, I think it's the most honest thing to admit it. We expected more from us. We can deliver more. We will try to take this as a learning (process) and do better as quickly as possible.'

'I can assure you the training sessions have been very good this week. Against Portugal you could see some great connections within the team. Scotland boss Melissa Andreatta: "There's one thing to be training and doing what we're doing, players executing what we're asking of them in a training session and it's another thing to do it in a match, particularly one with that context behind it. "I think I have a good baseline now to understand where we're at and some areas to work on to get where we want to be. "We were the better team in many moments in that second half but we all know in international football you have to be doing that consistently. That's what it takes in tournament football to go deep and that's what we want this team to be. "I really believe in this group and what's it's going to take now is a lot of work to continue to find the areas I can help this team to realise their potential and go to another level. The belief isn't down, I'm not shaken by the result, I'm even more passionate about supporting this team to realise their goals. "In the second half I saw more of that ability to break lines, get into good areas in the final third and create chances. That's the positive part and that's something we want to keep building on. "Me as a person, the past is the past now and I'll always look forward, take those learnings and think what we can do next. "That's what I've learned about this group, something we both share is this deep commitment to being the best we can and willing to do whatever it takes to do that. The belief is still there, it's just going to be a lot of hard work."
