Footy Show star Beau Ryan reveals the rogue segment producers BANNED after he got tied up in a German sex club
Former NRL star turned TV presenter Beau Ryan has revealed why producers at the Footy Show once previously refused to air a segment that featured him being tied up by a dominatrix at a sex club in Germany. Ryan, 40, was in Berlin a decade ago for the Channel Nine show when he entered the risqué establishment with a film crew. Speaking on Triple M Breakfast with Beau and Woodsy on Thursday, Ryan set the scene when the panel recalled colourful work trips. 'It was 10 years ago and we had an idea,' he said. 'We saw (US talk show host) Conan O'Brien had gone to a bondage den, so we went in there and it was like the movie Taken. 'A woman comes out dressed like Catwoman, and before I knew it, I was down to my Speedos. 'My safe word was Gallen [after Cronulla NRL great Paul Gallen] but then another woman took me into the room and she didn't speak any English, so there was a language barrier.' What followed next was utter chaos. Ryan found himself whipped, spanked and hit with electric shocks - all while blindfolded. What felt like an hour to him only took 15 minutes - and Ryan had multiple welts on his body to prove it. 'Once we got back to Sydney, an EP (executive producer) from the Footy Show called me in for a chat,' Ryan continued. 'After watching the footage, they apologised for what happened over there and then said we can't air that. 'So I was left with all these welts and scars and I found out years later the guys at Channel Nine had to delete all the footage.' Ryan retired from the NRL in 2014 due to an ongoing neck injury. Next was a foray into television, starting on The Footy Show, before stints - mainly via Channel 10 - on The Amazing Race Australia, I'm a Me Out of Here, Top Gear Australia and a remake of Gladiators. Ryan also features on Triple M Breakfast each weekday with fellow footy identity Aaron Woods plus new host Cat Lynch.

Shock reason Wally Lewis' son Lincoln didn't attend dad's wedding despite being just minutes away from the church - as league legend's family feud laid bare
Rugby league legend Wally Lewis has married his partner of four years, Lynda Adams, in a quiet ceremony in Brisbane- but there were some notable absences on the guest list. The 65-year-old NRL "Immortal" wed Adams, a freelance writer and volunteer worker from Townsville, at St Mary's Anglican Church in Kangaroo Point on April 26. The happy couple were all smiles throughout the service and at a stylish reception held at Brisbane's historic Old Government House. Among the 40 or so guests were Lynda's daughter, Sydney, her nieces Sienna and Paris Bell, Wally's longtime mate and former Maroons player Gene Miles, and Footy Show star Paul 'Fatty' Vautin. However, Wally's three adult children- Mitchell, 39, Lincoln, 37, and Jamie-Lee, 34- were notably absent from the nuptials. Lincoln, an actor and television presenter, was just minutes away at the time, hosting an event for Tourism Australia at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. "So honoured to be the MC today for this year's Tourism @australia ATE," the Getaway star wrote on his Instagram Stories, posting a photo of his lanyard at the event. "Amongst the formalities, it's pretty much where I get to be on stage yapping about how much I love Aus." A source close to the family told Woman's Day this week that the siblings spent most of the day with their mother, Jacqui, who was married to Wally for 36 years. "All three kids have been through the wringer since 2021 when their dad announced the shock split after 36 years married to their mum," the insider said. "Lincoln has taken this the hardest, and feels incredibly betrayed and let down by the man who for most of his life was his greatest hero." While some might suggest it's time to move on, the source added that "only a few people know the full story of what really happened, and how ugly the split actually was". Wally and Jacqui separated in 2020, with Channel Nine confirming the split publicly in early 2021. Though the timeline has never been officially confirmed, there was speculation Wally began his relationship with Adams before his marriage ended. Speaking later that year on The Anj, Rob & Robbo Show, Lincoln admitted the family had been through a tough time. "We've all banded together, we're a tight family unit," he said. "She's got some amazing friends around her. That's the thing that gets anyone through (difficult times)." Five years later, Jacqui is said to be thriving post-divorce, enjoying her retail job, taking overseas trips, and spending time with her four grandchildren. Although Lincoln's relationship with his father may have weakened, his love for the game remains strong. Over the weekend, he posted from Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium, where a bronzed statue of Wally still stands proudly out the front. "Magic Round is a vibe!!!" he captioned the post, accompanied by the famous NRL theme song 'That's My Team' by the Hoodoo Gurus.

‘Extraordinary money': Footy great spreads $4m rumour about AFL legends
Nathan Brown has done it again. The Footy Show star has set the AFL rumour mill ablaze with his annual estimates of the highest-paid figures in footy's TV land. Brown had his Triple M co-hosts in stitches as he read out the list where he named two Channel 7 stars as the new kings on the top of his footy media rich list. The former Western Bulldogs and Richmond forward said his estimates were accurate to within 'two per cent'. FOX FOOTY, available on Kayo Sports, is the only place to watch every match of every round in the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season LIVE in 4K, with no ad-breaks during play. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited-time offer. According to Brown, Kane Cornes is now the highest paid ex-player with a microphone after cutting a massive deal with Seven as the network went through its off-season shake up. Brown said he believes Cornes is now pocketing $500k per-year with Seven — since he made the jump from Channel 9 at the end of the 2024 season. Cheekily spreading the rumour on Triple M's popular Friday Huddle, Brown said Nick Riewoldt has suddenly become the second-highest paid former player in media-land. Channel 7 triggered one of the biggest footy media shake-ups in recent memory last year ahead of the new AFL broadcast rights deal beginning this year. Cornes was the big fish landed by Seven, but the network also snatched Craig Hutchison and Caroline Wilson away from Nine. Seven's other big move was signing up Riewoldt after the St Kilda champion returned to Australia following his earlier move to live in the United States for a brief time. Brown, 47, suggested Riewoldt has been among the big winners from Channel 7's aggressive footy media content expansion, estimating the former Saints captain takes home around $500,000 from his work with the free-to-air network. After listing off Riewoldt's other media projects, Brown said Riewoldt was on 'extraordinary money'. 'This is where it gets interesting,' Brown said on Triple M alongside host Mark Howard, Hawthorn legend Jason Dunstall and journalist Damian Barrett. 'Because I've been told this guy at No. 2 and I can tell you his name — his name is Nick Riewoldt. Brilliant operator. Love his insights. But I was told Fox were heavy into him to come back and it was almost a done deal for AFL 360 and Nick Riewoldt. 'At the death Channel 7 came in with an offer. I've estimated for $500k.' Brown said Riewoldt was also on 'big numbers' at Triple M in his new Melbourne Breakfast show alongside Mick Molloy. Brown said he believes Riewoldt will earn around $900k this year — second only to Cornes, who he believes will rake in around $950k. Cornes is the loudest voice in the AFL media industry through his gigs on Seven, SEN radio and with the AFL's official website. Brown suggested Cornes would be on similar coin to Riewoldt with both pundit's estimated to earn $500k in their TV gigs. Cornes also has a full-on schedule with SEN's rotating breakfast radio show. 'Everyone's talking about him.... but if Rooey (Riewoldt) is on $500k at Channel 7 then Kane Cornes has to be on pretty much the same,' Brown said. 'He's their marquee. Rooey is their marquee. He would be on $300k at SEN.' Brown said Cornes would also earn a fortune through his work for a betting company — pocketing a total $950k per-year. The top five list compiled by Brown was worth a combined $4.4 million. Brown named Dunstall, Brian Taylor, Garry Lyon and Dale Thomas as the other top earners. The former Richmond small forward cheekily said Dunstall had asked him to be left off the list. Lyon came in at No. 3 on Brown's list, with rumoured earnings of up to $850k per-year through his gigs with Fox Footy, SEN Breakfast and other side projects. Lyon has been a huge hit for Fox Footy since he stepped into the co-host chair alongside Gerrard Whateley for the flagship AFL 360 show. Lyon is also a member of the star-studded Fox Footy commentary team alongside Jonathan Brown and Nathan Buckley. As estimated by Brown, Dunstall and Lyon would both be on a wicket of around $500k-per-year at the Foxtel network. Brown estimates, Lyon pockets a total of $850k-per-year through his various roles. Dunstall flatly denied Brown's suggestions he earns around $600k-per-year. 'I wish I could earn what Nathan says I earn,' Dunstall said on Triple M. 'That would be awesome.' He went on to tell Brown: 'You got me horribly wrong'. Dunstall threw it back at Brown, suggesting the Footy Show panellist has 'conveniently' left himself off the list — suggesting Brown's work with a betting agency would be enough to get him a spot on the list. This is the first time Thomas has earned Brown's attention for his annual project. Brown described Thomas as the 'rising star of Triple M and Channel 7', estimating the former Collingwood premiership-winner earns a cool $550k per-year. 'He's as good an operator I've seen, Daisy,' Brown said on MMM. 'Daisy earns his money in football. He works for Seven, he works for Pointsbet. He works for Triple M.' Howard chimed in, saying: 'Worth every cent'. The big changes to Brown's 2025 list compared to his previous compilations was the decision to eliminate footy media personalities that did not play AFL football. This decision means Howard, James Brayshaw and Whateley were not considered, despite having previously earned a spot in Brown's annual Top 5. Nathan Brown's highest-earning AFL media figures in 2025 1. Kane Cornes - $950k 2. Nick Riewoldt - $900k 3. Garry Lyon - $850k 4. Jason Dunstall - $600k 5. Brian Taylor - $550k 5. Daisy Thomas - $550k Nathan Brown's Top 5 Footy media earnings 2024 1. James Brayshaw 2. Garry Lyon 3. Brian Taylor 4. Jason Dunstall 5. Kane Cornes Nathan Brown's Top 5 Footy media earnings 2023 1. Sad truth about Andrew Johns laid bare after NRL legend calls it quits mid-match
Leading journalists Danny Weidler and Michael Chammas have used Andrew Johns' extraordinary refusal to keep commentating the Cronulla and Wests Tigers game last Sunday to highlight the depths of the frustration being levelled at NRL officials. Johns launched a stunning silent protest while in the commentary box for Channel 9, and refused to call the final 23 minutes of the Tigers' win over the Sharks. Johns' boycott was sparked by the sin-binning of Fonua Pole, which was arguably the most ridiculous out of a whopping 18 that occurred in Round 8. The game was brought to a halt so Pole could be sent to the bin for a completely innocuous incident on the previous set of six. The Bunker official found that Pole had made contact with Tom Hazleton's head on the previous set, and ordered the on-field ref to go back and sin-bin him. The same situation occurred on Saturday night when Manly forward Sio Siua Taukeiaho was binned for a tackle on Isaiah Papalii in the previous set. On both occasions the contact was so innocuous that neither of Hazelton or Papalii even reacted, and certainly didn't need to undergo a head injury assessment (HIA). On Monday, NRL boss Andrew Abdo conceded both sin-binnings shouldn't have happened and said the Bunker will only get involved on serious incidents of foul play moving forward. Before Abdo came out and admitted the crackdown on high contact had gone too far, Johns launched a furious tirade about the situation on the Sunday Footy Show. It was later revealed that he put the microphone down and refused to speak for the rest of the match after Pole was binned. Discussing Johns' silent protest on Wednesday, Weidler and Chammas said it shows the NRL has a serious problem. "I found it really hard to watch," Weidler said on Triple M podcast 'The Journos'. "I was fascinated to learn about Andrew Johns putting his microphone down for the last 23 minutes and refusing to call it. "When a legend and an Immortal of the game is doing that, we've got a problem. Joey (Johns) has enough skin in the game to do what he likes. He's passionate about it and the fact a legend of the game is doing that should be a worry for the NRL." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Triple M NRL (@triplem_nrl) Chammas applauded the NRL for coming out and admitting the situation had descended too far. "I'm not saying that everything Joey said has to be followed, but it's good that the NRL haven't just doubled down and thought 'stuff everyone else'," he added. "Because that could have been a path they went down and just said 'we're going to continue doing this because we believe it's right'." The NRL's crackdown on high contact was sparked by a number of tackles in the opening two rounds that deserved to draw a sin-bin, but officials failed to do so. By penalising players and suspending them, the NRL is covering its own back in case anyone launches legal action down the track and claims they didn't do enough to protect players. But the sin-binning of players for innocuous incidents that occurred in previous sets went way too far. NRL head of football Graham Annesley told AAP on Monday: "If it's at the lower end of the scale, we don't want the game stopped and players put in the bin for incidents that can be dealt with by way of report and reviewed by the match committee later." That came after Johns labelled the situation "embarrassing" for the game and "beyond a joke". He said on the Footy Show: "The over-analysis and the overreach of the Bunker in play ... the Bunker should be used only for try-scoring opportunities unless it's a send-off. If it's an out-and-out send-off and they miss it, then fair enough, come in and send the player off." View this post on Instagram A post shared by NRL on Nine (@nrlonnine)

Andrew Johns ignored as Panthers cop massive new blow amid woeful start
The Panthers have lost second-rower Scott Sorensen for an extra game after he was unsuccessful at the NRL judiciary on Tuesday night. Sorensen will now miss three games instead of two after the Panthers failed in their attempt to get a grade-two shoulder charge changed to a grade-one. A grade-one charge would have changed a two-game ban to a $1000 fine, but because he was unsuccessful he'll now miss three games instead. It means the last-placed Panthers will be without the Kiwi international for games against the Broncos, Cowboys and Knights. Speaking on Sunday, NRL legend Andrew Johns called on league officials to publicly explain what players in Sorensen's situation are supposed to do. Sorensen was trying to tackle Manly forward Nathan Brown from a kick-off return, and made contact to the head with his shoulder. Brown didn't require a head injury assessment (HIA) and remained on the field. Johns pointed out that Sorensen risked injuring himself if he tried to tackle low, and couldn't extend his arms to wrap around Brown due to the close proximity of teammates. 'They want players to defend low, but if Scott Sorensen goes low on Nathan Brown he's gonna knock himself out as cold as a spud,' Johns said on the Footy Show. 'If he wraps his arms, he will dislocate his shoulder – he has to brace and get himself into space. I have no idea what the NRL want this tackle to be and they have to come out tomorrow and explain what tackle they want in this situation." Not only did the NRL ignore Johns' call for an explanation, they've now slugged Sorensen with an extra game on the sidelines. As Johns pointed out, players in the past have suffered arm and shoulder injuries while trying to make tackles on kick-offs because they usually involve teammates crowding their space. If a player gets his arm caught between a teammate and the ball-carrier, they'll often suffer dislocations or fractures. The ban for Sorensen will fuel the push for kick-offs to be eradicated, as they pose a clear risk for both the attacker and defenders. "It's disappointing. I completely understand the process and what's happened," Sorensen told AAP on Tuesday night. "Our club here at Penrith, I appreciate their support through it all and, as I say, it's disappointing but that's the way it goes." Penrith will have to defy history if they want to make the finals, with no team this century recovering from last place after eight rounds to make the top-eight. The absence of Sorensen is another headache for Penrith coach Cleary, with the four-time defending premiers winning just two out of eight games so far. "I have complete faith in our team and our squad, who are excited and ready to prepare for a big game on Sunday," Sorensen said. "Unfortunately I won't be there, but I'll be doing everything I can to make sure they are prepared and ready to go." I've never understood why you cop an extra week for fighting your charge… 🤷🏼♂️ — Willo (@willo132) April 29, 2025 That will do me!Of all the sin bins and reports for round 8. Soros copes 3 Abdo's charm/ we can do better/ there's no crackdown/ we wont shy away from protecting player offensive was as bad as Albo saying he is going to reduce our electricity bill. — Long Le (@le468794) April 29, 2025 Not a panthers fan but when was the last time something was successfully downgraded at the judiciary? Genuinely feel like its not worth it unless its like a grand final — Michael Andrews (@Michael26123906) April 29, 2025 Absolute bloody joke — AldoSmitho (@allysmith67) April 29, 2025 with AAP
