5 plays that stood out from Dolphins' preseason win vs. Lions
The Miami Dolphins moved their preseason record to 1-0-1 with a 24-17 win from Ford Field over the Detroit Lions. There's plenty of takeaways and overreactions to be had from the Dolphins' second preseason contest of 2025. With the Dolphins' second preseason tilt wrapped up, here are five plays that stood out from the win: Dee Eskridge dances down the sideline Fifth-year receiver Dee Eskridge made a strong case that he should be included on the Dolphins' 53-man roster with his Saturday play. Though it started off rocky with Eskridge fumbling on his first punt return, the 5'9, 190-pound receiver quickly made amends. On the Dolphins' second offensive series, Eskridge hauled in a trio of passes. The Western Michigan alum had catches of 15 and 27 yards to move the chains. Then, Eskridge put on the dance moves and tightroped the sideline to the end zone for an 11-yard, catch-and-run score. Jordan Phillips sacks Hendon Hooker The rookie out of Maryland had himself a nice day. Jordan Phillips notched his first sack and tackle for loss as a Dolphin when he dumped Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker. Phillips finished with four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a tackle for loss. The 6'3, 305-pound defensive tackle had 'Fins fans buzzing and has Miami hopeful that it might have formed one of the NFL's best defensive lines. Ollie Gordon II bowls over a Lion Ollie Gordon II had a productive day, rushing for 50 yards on 10 totes. The 2025 sixth-round draft pick out of Oklahoma State also had a 14-yard reception on the afternoon. But, it was his 19-yard carry in the third quarter where he bulldozed his way into Lions safety Loren Strickland that got Dolphins fans out of their seats. Gordon could make a serious push to earn some of the carries that lead back De'Von Achane doesn't get. Quinn Ewers finds Theo Wease Jr. twice Rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers had a rough preseason debut at the Chicago Bears. But, Ewers really showed some tremendous growth on Saturday. Ewers protected the football and was accurate and decisive in the passing game, completing 11 of 17 passes for 116 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to rookie undrafted wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. There was some buzz about the way the former Texas Longhorn had been performing throughout OTAs and training camp. After a dismal showing in Chicago, this was more like it. Ethan Robinson calls game What a spectacular play to finish out the win. The undrafted rookie cornerback from Minnesota showcased his athleticism and his 42-inch vertical leap as Ethan Robinson leapt to deflect and then snatch the game-sealing interception off Hooker. It iced the win. Did it also ice Robinson's place on the Dolphins' practice squad in 2025? Lions vs. Dolphins preseason first half live chat
If you ask me, there's nothing better than Detroit Lions football at the 1 p.m. ET timeslot. It just feels right, and it leaves you the entire evening to bask in the glory of a Lions victory, or do some yardwork to ignore a Lions loss. On this Saturday afternoon, the wins and losses do not matter. If the Lions move to 2-1 or 1-2 this preseason, there won't be a single soul (other than maybe Dan Campbell) that really cares. But that isn't to say the game between the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins isn't meaningful. For the players playing, it's critical, and several of them may have jobs on the line. But for us, the Lions fans, Saturday represents something else: the first home game of the season. Ford Field may not be filled to the brim for a preseason game, but I cannot wait to feel even a fraction of the energy that emanates from the stadium, and that starts Saturday. For those of you at home, you can feel the energy of Lions fandom right here, in our Lions vs. Dolphins live chat. When the game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET, simply scroll down to the comment section below and hang out with our awesome Lions community. Share your observations from the game, your favorite highlights, and talk about how that may impact Detroit's 53-man roster—which must be finalized in 10 days! When the game is at halftime, head back to the front page and be on the lookout for the live chat for the second half. After the game is over, we'll have a bunch of other opportunities to discuss the game, including our game recap, winners/losers, and primary takeaways. Enjoy your Saturday, and go Lions!

UFL relocating Michigan Panthers out of Detroit, report says
The Michigan Panthers, which was founded in 2022, may be relocating out of Detroit, according to a report. Pro Football Newsroom's James Larsen first reported on the relocation. A source could not confirm whether the team was moving but told CBS News Detroit that six of seven people at the franchise's front office were laid off, which was considered to be unexpected. In a statement, the UFL said, "Every year, the League office looks at planning for next season and beyond. At this point, we have nothing to report on any unauthorized speculation." "What we're seeing this year is a much larger percentage of full timers being let go from their roles, and folks that need year-round jobs if you want your market to survive," Larsen told CBS News Detroit. Larsen says this includes marketing and ticket sales personnel who boasted some of the best attendance improvements in the league last season for the Panthers. "They had a 43.6% average attendance increase compared to 2024. If you're doing stuff like that and you're still getting fired, that goes to show the league has zero interest in being in this market going forward," he said. Fans can still put $50 deposits down on 2026 season tickets; however, it is unclear if there have been discussions about hosting future Panthers games at Ford Field. Larsen says the league could be moving the franchise out of Detroit due to the cost of playing there. "Ford Field is the most expensive venue the UFL has. If Michigan had won the division, they still wouldn't have been able to play that playoff game at Ford Field because of how expensive it is," he said. Larsen reported similar layoffs at the other three teams in the USFL conference (Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats), which he reports are also subject to relocation. He says Detroit stands out due to the timing of the alleged layoffs amid an impressive period of growth. If the team does move, Larsen reports that the league could be eyeing new markets in Ohio, Idaho, Florida and Kentucky.

The 22-track record, which hit No. 1 on Billboard's R&B charts and won the Grammy for Best R&B album, spans 67 minutes and showcases Brown's famous four-octave tenor vocal range. After a few listens, we were most struck by the tropical 'Sensational,' bouncy 'Press Me' and laid-back 'Best Ever.' Still, the standout might be the pulsing 'No One Else' featuring Fridayy; its breakneck beat coupled with impassioned vocals make for a surefire dance floor favorite. Make sure you don't sleep on the Grammy-nominated 'Summer Too Hot,' either. Want to spin Brown's latest for yourself? You can find '11:11' in its entirety here. Chris Brown special guests At all shows, Brown will bring along either Summer Walker or Bryson Tiller, and, on some occasions, they'll both share the stage with the Virginia-born hitmaker. Summer Walker: 'Girls Need Love' Bryson Tiller: 'Don't' Chris Brown controversy In 2009, Brown had a domestic dispute with his then-girlfriend Rihanna that became violent. Soon after, she was sent to the hospital to treat severe facial injuries. That morning, Brown turned himself into the Los Angeles Police Department. One month later, he pleaded guilty to felony assault. After agreeing to a plea deal that included community labor, five years probation, and domestic violence counseling, the judge ruled a 50-yard, five-year restraining order was necessary for Rihanna. Brown is also known for his 2013 spat with singer Frank Ocean, a hit and run, breaking internal rules at a rehab center, assaulting his manager and a five-year restraining order from his ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, among other transgressions. Most recently, he was charged this past May with smashing a tequila bottle over a music producer's head at a London nightclub in 2023. He was granted bail and plead not guilty.
