Perrie Edwards Admits She's Still Moved To Tears By Jesy Nelson Rift
Perrie Edwards has admitted that she still has an emotional reaction when she reflects on the rift between herself and her former bandmate Jesy Nelson. The two singers spent almost a decade together in the chart-topping pop group Little Mix, who were put together on the eighth season of The X Factor in 2011, and went on to score five UK number one singles. In 2020, Jesy made headlines when she announced she was parting ways with the group, having previously spoken candidly about the toll that being part of a girl band had on her mental health. While initially this split was reported to be a harmonious one, this proved not to be the case as time went on, and the remaining three members of Little Mix have not spoken to Jesy since her departure from the band. Over the weekend, an interview with Perrie and Alison Hammond aired on the latter's new show Alison Hammond's Big Weekend, in which they briefly touched on the fall-out. The Forget About Us singer admitted that she, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock 'talk about' Jesy's exit 'a lot', adding: 'But I think in the moment, we did everything we could. So, some things just happen. It is really sad.' Confirming that she and Jesy haven't spoken in almost five years, she told the This Morning star: 'We haven't spoken since she left. It's heartbreaking, isn't it? 'I wrote a song about it, and every time I listen to it I cry. I think losing a friend in that same dynamic and in that same world, is just as bad [as breaking up with a romantic partner], if not worse.' A year after Jesy's exit from Little Mix, the release of her debut solo single Boyz sparked accusations of Blackfishing. Reports around this time claimed that her ex-bandmates had all unfollowed Jesy on social media, though unverified 'leaked' DMs reportedly sent by Leigh-Anne Pinnock to a TikTok user later suggested that Jesy had, in fact, blocked the trio. These alleged messages were never confirmed to be accurate, nor did Leigh-Anne ever comment on them directly. However, they did end up forming a major part of the conversation during an ill-fated Instagram live-stream Jesy took part in with her Boyz collaborator Nicki Minaj, in which the rapper branded Leigh-Anne a 'fucking clown' and accused her of being 'jealous' of Jesy. Last week, Jesy became a mum to twin girls, who she has named Ocean Jade and Story Monroe. Perrie Edwards still cries over Jesy Nelson 5 years after leaving Little Mix
Perrie Edwards has admitted that she still sheds tears over Jesy Nelson's decision to leave Little Mix, despite it being five years since her bandmate's dramatic exit. The former pop duo are no longer on speaking terms after the split. Perrie, 31, has now compared the pain of losing a bandmate to one not too dissimilar to losing a loved one. She spoke candidly when admitting she 'grieved' the loss of Jesy after her shocking decision to leave in 2020 due to mental health struggles. The star appeared on Alison Hammond's new BBC show, where she spilled the gossip on her feelings towards her ex-best friend. Speaking to the TV personality, Perrie expressed: 'We talk about it a lot, but I think in the moment we did everything we could, so some things just happen.' The mum-of-one went on to admit: 'It is really sad; we haven't spoken since she left.' The pair met back in 2011 when Simon Cowell picked them to form a group on The X Factor, alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirwall, going on to become one of the world's most successful girl groups. Little Mix announced an indefinite hiatus in 2021, with each member pursuing solo careers while also focusing on family life. Perrie and Leigh-Anne both gave birth in August 2021, with their babies arriving just days apart. Perrie has since launched her solo music career, with her first solo single, Forget About Us, reaching number 10 in the UK Singles Chart. Meanwhile, alongside her music, Leigh-Anne made her acting debut in the festive 2021 movie Boxing Day. More Trending Jade signed with RCA Records to release her own music ahead of her first solo tour ,titled That's Showbiz Baby!, which begins in October of this year and accompanies her debut solo album of the same name. Jesy has released two solo tracks since her decision to leave the band, with her debut single Boyz garnering major backlash online and prompting her to rethink the direction of her solo career. The ex member is currently on a break from making music as she is expecting twins with her rapper boyfriend, Zion Foster. Jesy, 33, has had a tough pregnancy so far, having recently been diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and being in and out of hospital with the condition. Got a story?
