Cabinet clears tunnel project in Bengaluru under BOOT model
The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to implement a ₹17,780-crore tunnel road project from Hebbal to Silk Board in Bengaluru under the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) model by calling global tenders.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday chaired a Cabinet meeting and cleared the project in the city which would be operated by the private firm for 30 years.
It would be a tolled tunnel. The Chief Minister has been authorised to call global tenders for the project. All works related to the project would be completed in 38 months, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil told reporters.
The Cabinet cleared a quantum research park at IISc, Bengaluru, and it would be established in collaboration with Foundation for Science Innovation & Development (FSID) at a cost of ₹48 crore.
The Cabinet cleared a ₹1,386-crore project to upgrade all government industrial training institutes in Karnataka. The institutes would be developed with the Asian Development Fund of ₹970 crore. The State government would contribute ₹416 crore and the project will be completed in five years.
It has approved ₹181.77 crore for the State-run Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences in Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Hubballi, and Mysuru, for the purchase of equipment.
