Police classify death of Taekwondo instructor Adam Basher as sudden death, probe foul play
Investigators are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of negligence or purely sports-related causes.

SHAH ALAM - Police have classified the death of 18-year-old taekwondo instructor Adam Basher Amran as a case of sudden death (SDR), as investigations continue to determine whether foul play contributed to the fatal injuries he sustained during a recent tournament.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the SDR classification during a press conference today, stating that investigators are examining all possible angles, including the possibility of negligence or purely sports-related causes.
'Police are conducting a full investigation to assess whether there was any element of foul play or whether it was solely a sport-related injury that led to his death. As part of this process, we will be calling all relevant parties and witnesses who can assist in the investigation,' he said.
Adam, a Foundation in Engineering student at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), was representing Selangor at a Taekwondo championship held at Dewan Seri Sarjana from June 20 to 22.
The incident occurred on June 21 June during a match, in which Adam was injured and reportedly sustained a severe brain injury.
He was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery to relieve cranial pressure but remained unresponsive.
Adam was pronounced brain-dead before passing away on June 25 at 3.21pm.
An orphan and the second of seven siblings, Adam lived with his elder sister while juggling his studies and his dedication to taekwondo. Described as disciplined and passionate, he also served as an assistant coach at his club and was a recipient of the Uniten Zakat Trust Fund.
News of Adam's tragic death has sparked widespread discussion online, particularly on the Threads platform, with many demanding clarity about the circumstances of the incident.
