MVJ College of Engineering celebrates Founders' Day in Bengaluru
The MVJ College of Engineering, Bengaluru, commemorated Founders' Day on May 17, at its campus honoring its visionary founder Dr. M. V. Jayaraman. The event commenced with a video tribute and a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The chief guest, Nandakumar K., CEO of Sundaram Industries and a distinguished alumnus, delivered a keynote address on leadership. Mr. Nandakumar encouraged attendees to prioritise 'people and purpose' in their endeavours. He emphasised the importance of resilience, vision, and leadership in overcoming challenges, stating, 'You have to work within constraints and still not lose purpose.' Dr. Ajayan K.R., Principal of the college, presented the annual report, highlighting advancements in research and innovation. The event celebrated the institution's 43-year legacy of excellence since its establishment in 1982. A key highlight of the event was the award ceremony, where 122 students were recognised for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and cultural activities. Additionally, 50 staff members were honoured for their contribution to academics, research, and long service. A total of ₹5 lakh was awarded in cash prizes, with notable recognition including the Vinay Deepak Memorial and Amitesh Rahul awards.

12 honorees announced for 2025 Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman Awards
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Six women and six young woman are to be honored for the 9th Annual Virginia K. Shehee Most Influential Woman Awards. According to a press release, the event will be held at East Ridge Country Club on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mayor appoints new director of nonprofit Providence House Officials say this prestigious award is named after civic leader, businesswoman, and philanthropist Virginia K. Shehee, whose legacy of service continues to inspire Northwest Louisiana. Each year, numerous outstanding women are nominated, and a select group is chosen for their remarkable impact on the community. A total of twelve women will be honored across two categories: six for the Most Influential Woman Award and six for the Most Influential Young Woman Award. One honoree from each category will be named the Most Influential Woman and Most Influential Young Woman of 2025. Shreveport's Centenary College celebrates annual Founders' Day
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Centenary College of Louisiana will be celebrating and gathering to observe its annual Founders' Day. Shreveport's Centenary College of Louisiana turns 200 Centenary College's annual Founders' will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. in the Brown Chapel, it is free and open to the public. The 2025 Founders' Day speakers this year include Edward J. Crawford III, a member of the College's Board of Trustees since 1991; Dr. Jefferson Hendricks '75, a Centenary alumnus and faculty member for over 40 years; Cheredith Rhone '17, Centenary alumna; and Tuyen Chau '25, a current student. Give $50 on Centenary College's Giving Day, get a whimsical Julia Gash bag
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Centenary College in Shreveport is linking Founders' Day and Giving Day on Feb. 20. Supporters who wish to donate to the college will have their gifts matched, and Centenary will also give gifts back to their supporters. Donors contributing $25 or more will be given an exclusive print of the original Centenary campus, which was located in Jackson, Louisiana. Those who donate $50 or more during 'Power Hour,' which will occur between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 20, will receive a tote bag designed for Centenary by Julia Gash. Gash is a graphic artist from Britain who has created whimsical illustrations for more than 500 universities and colleges worldwide. Fred Landry is the Vice President for Development at Centenary College. He said Giving Day is a great opportunity for Centenary alumni and friends to show their support and invest in the college's life. 'They also have options to give to programs or causes at Centenary that have meaning and importance to them, including scholarships, athletic teams, academics, and general support,' said Landry. Donors giving $200 during 2025 will become members of the 200 club. Their names will be placed on a donor wall in a building on campus. $200 donors may direct their contributions to various funds that support everything from academics, athletics, and building renovations. An in-person happy hour will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Marilynn's Place in Shreveport. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to Centenary.
