We Just Updated Our List of the Best Restaurants in San Francisco

Summer unlocks a secret videogame level in San Francisco's matrix. It's a bizarro version compared with other cities: There's zero humidity trapping us in its sweltering, inescapable maw, and it's actually cold at night. The city also quiets down considerably as many of the tech overlords, artists, and of course, tried and true free spirits flee to Burning Man. That also means the lines for our most popular culinary destinations shorten just a little. Except at places like Four Kings, which was named one of our favorite restaurants in the United States last year and remains on our San Francisco dining guide, updated this week. But here's a tip: Get there early, put your name down and even if they quote you a four-hour wait, you might win the city's restaurant lottery and wait only an hour (or two). That's plenty of time to enjoy San Francisco's pinnacle Vesper cocktail at Moongate Lounge, where there's always some kind of party, or a tropical Mai Tai at Lipo Lounge; or you can bop over to On Waverly, a vibrant curated shop filled with Asian American Pacific Islander books, stationary and miscellaneous fun in the shape of bok choy-shaped hair clips. But if you're a fan of the brand new (to our list) are our three additions. Nite Yun's Lunette, which opened in the Ferry Building last year, has become my go-to for last-minute lunches with visiting friends or with my toddler, who happily slurps down any of the comforting broths and noodle bowls on the menu. Ms. Yun's Cambodian food has crossed the bridge from her first outpost in Oakland, Calif., Nyum Bai (now closed), and in the process transformed to feed the heavy foot traffic that comes with being in one of the busiest tourist spots in the city. The space is, of course, smaller than her previous brick-and-mortar, but Ms. Yun's ability to accommodate old fans and new diners has been wonderful to taste. If you happen to visit Lunette with your kids, take a quick walk along the Embarcadero to the Exploratorium Museum, where there are interactive, educational exhibits like the monochromatic room or a shadow box wall that tests your perceptual spectrum. Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 12: Bofurin's Four Heavenly Kings Gather—Recap, Release Date, Where To Stream And More

The eleventh episode of Wind Breaker Season 2, titled 'After the Storm,' begins with a quiet hotel dinner as Sakura remains unsettled by Yamato Endo's reappearance. A flashback shows Endo confronting the first-years, revealing he kidnapped Shizuka and sought out Suzuri. Though Sakura is unimpressed, Endo says Sakura belongs alone. Suzuri begs Endo to leave others out, and he agrees for now, vowing to return. Later, the group finds comfort in video games together. That night, Tsubakino summons everyone to the rooftop, and the episode ends with Umemiya appearing as well. Expected plot in Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 12 Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 12 will likely open on the rooftop where Umemiya and the Four Kings have gathered with the first-years. Umemiya's response to Yamato Endo's ominous threat to return will likely be the central topic of discussion. With Endo's ties to Bofurin revealed, the episode will likely explore his past within the gang and why he abandoned them. The episode may expose deeper issues within Furin's hierarchy and reveal how the Four Heavenly Kings plan to respond to the looming danger Endo now represents. Release date and where to stream As per the official website, Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 12 is scheduled to air in Japan on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 12:26 am JST. Due to global time differences, some international viewers may be able to watch it as early as Thursday, June 19. Wind Breaker Season 2 Episode 12 will stream on various platforms, including ABEMA, Netflix, U-NEXT, Disney+, and Prime Video. Crunchyroll will also stream it worldwide, offering dubbed versions in several languages for international audiences. This is the most fun restaurant on our Top 100 list

Four Kings is loud, bold and packed. The Chinatown restaurant remains arguably San Francisco's hottest restaurant, even a year after opening. Reservations open at midnight and book three weeks out. Diners are still quoted a two-hour wait on Saturday nights. And they wait, peering in at diners perched at the narrow wooden counter in front of the bustling open kitchen, cheersing Taiwanese beers while Cantonese pop music plays. Tables overflow with plates of XO escargot, mapo spaghetti and crispy whole squab. When San Francisco Chronicle critics MacKenzie Chung Fegan and Cesar Hernandez came up with their list of the Bay Area's Top 100 restaurants, they immediately agreed on which one was the most fun: No. 2, Four Kings. 'Four Kings is the type of place where strangers end up swapping menu recommendations and eventually doing shots of shochu together,' Fegan said. The Chinatown restaurant's name both pays homage to Cantonese pop band Four Heavenly Kings, and the four owners, who are friends and former coworkers. Their first restaurant was inspired by a group trip to Honolulu, where they fell in love with a similarly unserious but delicious izakaya-style restaurant. Chefs Franky Ho and Mike Long and their respective partners, Millie Boonkokua and Lucy Li, bring experience from some of San Francisco's top restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Chinese favorite Mister Jiu's and the genre-defying Liholiho Yacht Club, both also Top 100 restaurants. Eating here feels like eating at a dinner party in their apartment; the dining room is decorated with polaroid pictures, empty alcohol bottles and vinyl records from the owners' personal collections. Four Kings has drawn nearly every national food accolade. In its first year, it was named one of Bon Appetit's best new restaurants, restaurant of the year by both Esquire and Eater and placed on The New York Times' best restaurants list. It's also up for this year's best new restaurant award from the James Beard Foundation.
