Chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen slams fist on table after defeat
Magnus Carlsen is one of the most recognizable players in the sport of chess, but he suffered a major upset in a classical matchup against Gukesh Dommaraju on Sunday. Video from the match showed Dommaraju closing in on Carlsen in the Norway Chess 2025 tournament. Dommaraju was finally able to pin down Carlsen, who in turn slammed his first on the table before shaking his opponent's hand and walking away. Dommaraju was equally in shock. Carlsen came into the tournament as the No. 1 ranked player in the world, according to Dommaraju was fourth. Despite turning his attention to freestyle chess, Carlsen still has a rating of 2837 compared to Dommaraju's 2776. Dommaraju told he felt like he was just having a "lucky day" by keeping the match going long enough to find a way to win. He added, "99 out of 100 times I would lose." "I mean, [it was] not the way I wanted it to be, but OK, I'll take it," Dommaraju said. He also shook off the Carlsen outburst. "I've also banged a lot of tables in my career." On Monday, Carlsen drew with Hikaru Nakamura and contrasted freestyle chess with classical chess. "Losses are painful no matter what, but at least if you can lose doing something you really enjoy it's easier," he said, via Reuters. "(In Freestyle chess) I don't have situations like yesterday where I'm just wondering why am I doing this, what's the point? I will do my best in the last three games (here) and then we'll see, I suppose." Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

American tennis star Danielle Collins defends outburst toward cameraman during tournament
American tennis star Danielle Collins on Tuesday defended her outburst toward a cameraman during a tournament last week. Collins' incident occurred at the Internationaux de Strasbourg against Emma Raducanu. During a changeover, she told the cameraman to keep their distance as she refilled her water bottle. She said the cameraman was acting "wildly inappropriate." She spoke at length about it after the victory over Jodie Anna Burrage in the first round of the French Open. "I think what happened in Strasbourg is just me asking for personal space at my work place. I don't know why that is even a topic of discussion," she said, via The Tennis Letter. "It should be something that we can get to have during, like, our work. The fact that I've had to ask so many different times in my career and during different matches to just have an adequate level of personal space is kind of strange. "I think often times it seems like my response is treated like the offense itself. I'm learning that as a female, asking for personal space seems to be an issue for a lot of people. I think it's really pathetic honestly, that it's even a topic of discussion. It's something that over time ... there's been no one that's been able to make the adjustment." Collins said that in the video that went viral across social media there was "so much people don't see." She said fans "don't see the person go and stand right on top of Emma to get a good shot of me in about a 2-3 foot space." She added that she needed to be able to focus on the match itself without having a camera in her face. "I'm doing a performance job. I'm trying to focus on my work. I'm trying to maintain my focus and concentration," Collins said. "My job requires channeling physical, emotional, and then logical things going on. It's my job to kind of put that all together. The last thing I should be focusing on is someone that's right on top of my opponent and right in my face. It's just really unnecessary." Collins wondered where the line was for those working behind the camera. "I don't necessarily think it was creepy," she said. "But I think we should all be able to say, like, 'Hey. I would like some physical space.' You go to different tournaments, and you ask nicely most of the time. You ask politely. That doesn't get reported on. But the time I get upset about at it, that response is treated as the offense itself. And that's what I find most interesting about it." The Florida native has never made it past the quarterfinals of the French Open. She is set to take on Serbia's Olga Danilovic in the second round. Paige Spiranac names this celebrity as 'slowest golfer' she's played with
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac has built up a massive audience with millions of followers across several social media platforms, and it has afforded her an opportunity to do some amazing things. Some of those things include hitting the course with the biggest names in Hollywood. Spiranac said on the "Vanity Index Podcast" on Tuesday that the most famous celebrities she played golf with were Mark Wahlberg and Justin Timberlake. She said she was in a foursome with the two actors and legend Gary Player. She then revealed who was the "slowest" golfer she has ever played with. "At Genesis, they did a celebrity Ryder Cup. My partner was Nick Jonas and we played against … Chris Pratt. He was very slow," Spiranac said. "Might be the slowest golfer I've ever played with. Super nice guy, unbelievably slow. "We were like four holes behind on a nine-hole little thing. And they were like, 'You need to speed it up.' He had all these people around him, and he'd tell like these amazing stories. And we were like, 'Hit the golf ball.'" Pratt has been known to play in some pro-ams. In June 2024, Pratt participated in the Workday Golden Cub Memorial Pro-Am at Muirfield in Ohio. He played with Peyton Manning and PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy. He also played golf before his wedding to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019. Rory McIlroy talks coldness toward Bryson DeChambeau during Masters
Rory McIlroy is fresh off finishing his career Grand Slam, finally winning the Masters, and earning his place on top of the golf world. As he geared up for the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina, McIlroy was asked about his icy reception toward Bryson DeChambeau during the Masters. The two were paired up together for the final round at Augusta and DeChambeau mentioned that McIlroy "didn't talk" to him once during it. McIlroy brushed it off when he talked to reporters on Wednesday. "I don't know what he was expecting," he said. "I mean, we're trying to win the Masters. I'm not gonna try to be his best mate right there. "Look, everyone approaches the game in different ways. And yeah, I was focused on myself and what I needed to do and that's really all that it was. It wasn't anything against him. I felt like that's what I needed to do to try to get the best out of myself that day." DeChambeau said last month that McIlroy appeared to be in the zone. Despite a blunder-filled day, McIlroy completed the career slam with his first win at Augusta National after defeating Justin Rose in a one-hole playoff on 18 after Rose missed a 15-foot putt for birdie. McIlroy will now look for a third PGA Championship title. He won in 2012 and 2014. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Naomi Osaka's fiery message to critics after winning tournament in France
Naomi Osaka returned to tennis with a vengeance. The four-time Grand Slam tournament winner was victorious in her first event since winning the 2021 Australian Open. She took home the trophy in the L'Open 35 de Saint-Malo in France. She defeated Slovenia's Kaja Juvan in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. "Kinda ironic to win my first trophy back on the surface that I thought was my worst," she initially wrote on X. "That's one of my favorite things about life though, there's always room to grow and evolve. Thanks to everyone accompanying me on this journey, I know it's turbulent but it's also really fun and I'm grateful." She then had a message for all the critics who said she would never win again. "This is for everyone that constantly has s--- to say lol," she wrote on X with a picture of a job application. Osaka has seven career singles titles and is 287-166 overall. She was ranked as high as No. 1 in January 2019 and was ranked No. 50 as of this past January. Her struggles have been thrust into the spotlight. She split from her coach in September following a second-round exit at the U.S. Open. She has not made it to at least the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament since 2021. At this year's Australian Open, she lost in the third round. Osaka will look to build some momentum ahead of the French Open. She lost in the second round last year.
