ACC Program Lands Nation's Top Available Transfer OT on Tuesday

Former four-star offensive tackle Kam Pringle is on the move after signing with a surging ACC program on Tuesday. Pringle (6-foot-8, 336 pounds) entered the transfer portal on April 21 after spending his first season under head coach Shane Beamer and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Advertisement The Dorchester, South Carolina, native and Woodland High School product originally signed with the Gamecocks as the No. 15 tackle, the No. 3 player in the state and the No. 180 recruit overall in the class of 2024 (247Sports composite). Pringle was ultimately buried on the depth chart behind more experienced players at South Carolina and went on to redshirt the 2024 season. As a transfer, Pringle previously ranked as the top available tackle and the fifth-best available transfer in the 2025 cycle. Pringle has reportedly found his next home at Syracuse under head coach Fran Brown after signing with the Orange ahead of his redshirt freshman season, according to Chris Hummer of 247Sports. Advertisement Syracuse is coming of its best season since 2018 with a 10-3 record and a bowl win over Washington State in 2024. Syracuse Orange head coach Fran Brown raises the Holiday Bowl trophy after defeating the Washington State CougarsAbe Arredondo-Imagn Images It was Brown's first year at the helm after formerly serving as a defensive assistant at Georgia, and the Orange appear to be building a roster that can compete for an ACC championship in 2025. It's clear that Brown and Co. want shore up the protection for Notre Dame transfer quarterback Steve Angeli after losing star quarterback Kyle McCord to the NFL Draft. Pringle is the third transfer offensive lineman to join the program in the 2025 cycle, including Austin Collins (Louisville) and Naquil Betrand (Alabama). There are some questions at wide receiver after losing Jackson Meeks to the draft with Zeed Haynes and Trebor Pena departing via transfer. Syracuse responded, in part, by adding South Carolina transfer Tyshawn Russell. New-look Syracuse will open the 2025 season in a big way by taking on Tennessee in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Aug. 30. CNY comes together to raise money at the 2025 Syracuse Heart Walk

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Central New Yorkers raised more than $465,000 at the 2025 Syracuse Heart Walk on Sunday, March 30. The Heart Walk is an annual, family-friendly event that brings the community together to support the mission of the American Heart Association: to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. The event's goal is to enhance CPR training accessibility, increase funding for research and save lives. About 2,000 people gathered at the SRC arena for the Heart Walk. The event brought together heart disease and stroke survivors, as well as people from dozens of local companies. 'When companies, communities and individuals come together to support the Heart Walk, they create a ripple effect of positive change,' said Dr. Seth Kronenberg, the president and CEO of Crouse Health and Syracuse Heart Walk volunteer chairman. 'Let's keep moving forward, one step at a time, towards a healthier future for all.' During the event, the American Heart Association also presented Fran Brown, Syracuse University's football coach, with the Paul 'Bear' Bryant Newcomer Coach of the Year Award. The award, which is presented annually, celebrates Bear Bryant's legacy and raises funds for research to eliminate death from cardiovascular disease and stroke. The event was sponsored by Crouse Health, St. Joseph's Health, FamilyCare Medical Group and more. You can visit this link to learn more. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Colorado, Syracuse joint spring game will have to wait another year

Colorado, Syracuse joint spring game will have to wait another year Well, Buff fans, the NCAA seems to be against having an epic scene on April 19 for Colorado football's annual spring game. On Friday afternoon, Chris Vannini of The Athletic reported that the NCAA and FBS oversight committee denied Colorado and Syracuse's request to hold joining spring practices leading up to an exhibition game at Folsom Field. According to the NCAA statement, the most significant factor in the waiver's denial was that the request was too close to the date to approve such a drastic measure. That is a fair reason, but it is a letdown knowing that Fran Brown at Syracuse and Deion Sanders's Colorado team were entirely on board. Another reason was that the NCAA did not want the two programs to have a competitive and recruiting advantage over other schools that did not host such an event. That reason contradicts everything that is happening in the current era of college football. Big schools can spend more money to "buy" the better players, while schools with smaller coffers are left in the dust. If the NCAA isn't going to regulate the transfer portal and NIL thoroughly, it shouldn't interfere with individual programs trying to create positive changes in the sport. No one is stopping other college football programs from attempting to schedule a joining spring game. The final reason the NCAA gave was that the "student-athletes are missing class time to participate in practice." At this time of year, the student-athletes already miss class for practice, so adding another team to the mix would not change much. There is hope for college football fans that the NCAA agreed to continue discussing joint spring game possibilities, so they appear to be partially open to the idea. But for now, the NCAA was a bit of a buzz kill for an idea with a ton of support and momentum. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram. Deion Sanders would love for Colorado to play another team in its spring game, except it's not allowed by NCAA rules

Deion Sanders and Fran Brown want to set up a spring game between Colorado and Syracuse but those pesky NCAA rules are in the way. Sanders has continued to be a proponent of college football teams playing each other in spring practices like NFL teams do when they scrimmage at training camp. Colorado's spring game next month is set to be televised by ESPN2, and Sanders would love for his team to scrimmage against another team instead of teammates playing against teammates. 'We got to sell this thing out and pack this thing because the way the train is going, you never know if this is going to be the last spring game,' Sanders said at his news conference Monday. 'I don't believe in that, I don't really want to condone that. I would like to play the spring [game]. Actually I'd like to play against another team in the spring. That's what I'm trying to do right now. To have it competitive, playing against your own guys kind of gets monotonous and you really can't tell the level of your own guys.' 'I would like to style it like the pros. I would like to practice someone for a few days then you have a spring game and I think the public would be satisfied with that tremendously. I think it's a tremendous idea.' [Yahoo Fantasy Bracket Mayhem is back: Enter for a shot to win up to $50K] It's certainly not a bad idea. As schools move to ditch spring games because of the spring transfer portal, teams playing each other would certainly add some variety and help make spring games relevant again. Brown, the Syracuse coach, saw Sanders' quotes and immediately volunteered his team to travel to Boulder. .@DeionSanders we will come to Boulder for 3 days 🎯🍊🙏🏾 — Fran Brown (@FranBrownCuse) March 17, 2025 Alas, the idea won't come to fruition without an NCAA rule change. The governing body's rules prohibit teams from scrimmaging against each other in spring practices. So much for that. It is worth wondering if the NCAA would consider revisiting that rule in the near future, especially if teams continue to axe spring games. Teams like Nebraska and Texas among others aren't holding spring games this year. What used to be a huge tradition in college football is now quickly disappearing. And having two teams play against each other could be a way to revive it.

Georgia football analyst leaves for Fran Brown, Syracuse

The Georgia Bulldogs have been known for their elite defensive talent during the Kirby Smart era. The Dawgs have also accumulated a lot of coaching talent over the years and other top college football programs want members of UGA's coaching staff. Much like the transfer portal, college football coaching staffs have significant turnover every year as coaches look to further their careers. Former cornerbacks coach Fran Brown left for Syracuse last season and flourished, going 10-3. An upset win over Miami to end the season prevented the Hurricanes from going to the College Football Playoff in Brown's top win of the season. Now, Georgia defensive analyst Blaine Miller is expected to join to Fran Brown's staff at Syracuse to become the new nickels coach. Miller joined the Georgia staff prior to the 2023 season, which was Brown's final season at Georgia. Miller is listed as a quality control coach and worked with the inside linebackers, assisting Glenn Schumann, who is Georgia's defensive coordinator.
