Wexford trio set to make waves at Welsh jazz festival this summer
The group is led by Sharon Clancy on vocals, along with her sister Vicky Barron on sax/clarinet/flute, and composer and pianist Tony Rex. Their latest project Making Waves is set to unite two historic ports across the Irish sea, Rosslare in Wexford and Fishguard in Wales. With the support of Culture Ireland, the trio will celebrate and commemorate the heart of both towns, where for generations, people have gathered, welcoming locals and visitors from near and far.. Sharon and her group are no strangers to the Aberjazz festival, having appeared several times in the past, and said they are 'honoured' to have been chosen to headline at St Mary's, one of the festival's largest venues. 'Making Waves' has been many months in the making. Earlier this year, Sharon recorded and released her song Maybe to celebrate International Women's Day, and this composition is a key part of the Making Waves project. For those would like to see the group sooner than August, they will be appearing at Franks Place 1860, North Main Street Wexford on May 30 where they will be joined by Dave Mooney on double bass and drummer Andre Antunes. Tickets for the Franks Place show are on sale at Wexford Arts Centre box office 053 912 3764 and for pre- show dinner reservations contact Frank's directly on 053 918 9109. McDonald's axing five items from menus TODAY including first ‘adult Happy Meal'
MCDONALD'S is pulling the plug on five popular menu items from TODAY, including what's been dubbed the first ever 'adult Happy Meal'. The Minecraft Meal, which only launched in March, is being binned just weeks after it hit menus. 9 9 It came with one of six collectable toys designed with grown-ups in mind, and cost £8.19 or £3.99 in the Happy Meal size. Also on the chopping block is the Mars McFlurry, a fan favourite made with creamy ice cream, chunks of chocolate-covered nougat and lashings of caramel sauce. It was priced at £2.19 for a regular and £1.69 for a mini. Two burgers are also getting the boot – the Philly Cheese Stack and McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse. The Philly Cheese Stack, which set customers back around £5.29 solo or £6.99 as a medium meal, was made with two Irish beef patties, a melted cheese slice, grilled and crispy onions, pickles and cheese sauce in a toasted bun. Meanwhile, the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse featured a chicken breast in a crispy coating with cheddar, red onion, lettuce and smoky BBQ sauce, all served in a sesame-topped sourdough-style bun. That one cost £5.79 on its own or £7.49 with fries and a drink. Finally, the Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie is also being dropped. The limited-edition Valentine's treat arrived back in February and was priced at £1.99. It came in a pink pastry shell filled with gooey raspberry compote and silky white chocolate ganache. McDonald's store rolls out policy that bans certain diners – even adults will be barred unless they comply with 2 checks- McDonald's regularly refreshes its menu to make room for new items and seasonal specials so while these favourites may be gone for now, they might not be gone for good. New items coming Whilst fans are sad to see these popular items leave, it's not all bad for McDonald's customers. In fact, from tomorrow, two brand new items are landing in stores and four much-loved favourites are making a comeback. The new Frank's RedHot Mayo dip is launching, offering a spicy twist to any order for just 50p. Fans can also cool down with the new Frozen Cherry Lemonade, a zingy, sweet drink made for sunny days. It'll cost £2.99. Meanwhile, the Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe are returning. The McFlurry is made with soft serve and a swirl of Biscoff biscuit crumb for £2.29, or £1.69 for the mini. The Frappe, priced at £3.09, is a creamy vanilla and ice blend, topped with caramel-flavoured cream and more biscuit crumb. Also back on the menu is the Steakhouse Stack – a beefy burger featuring two patties, cheddar, crispy onions, lettuce, red onions and black peppercorn sauce in a glazed sesame bun. It'll cost £5.99. The McSpicy x Frank's RedHot will return tommorow, bringing the heat with jalapeños, crunchy lettuce, onions, Emmental-style cheese and Frank's fiery mayo, all in a sesame bun. That'll be £5.99 solo or £7.99 with a Medium Meal. McDonald's . This latest shake- up comes after one eagle-eyed customer spotted Maccies treats in the freezer section and immediately filled up their basket. Footage showed a series of different frozen items similar to those on the McDonald's. How to save at McDonald's You could end up being charged more for a McDonald's meal based solely on the McDonald's restaurant you choose. Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other. You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald's receipts. The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey. You'll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer. There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald's app, so it's worth signing up to get money off your meals. The MyMcDonald's app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up. You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you're a My McDonald's app user. The chain has recently sent out reminders to app users to fill out their birthday details - otherwise they could miss out on birthday treats. 9 9

The 15 best rooftop bars in London, mapped
The sun is out. Kind of. Almost. It's peeking through the clouds at any rate, which means there's no better time for you to ditch pubs with ceilings and opt for a bar that's open to the elements. We recently revealed our list of the best, non-naff rooftop bars in London. To make it easier for you to work your way through them, we've now popped them all onto a map. Use it to traverse your way through the Peckham rooftop spots, from Frank's and Forza Wine (the National Theatre edition of which came top of the list) to Bussey Rooftop Bar, or let it guide you through Hackney's high-up establishments, including Netil360 and Dalston Roofpark. There's a newbie on the map too – Setlist, which is the rebranded terrace space at Somerset House. It launches for the summer season on May 8, and James Dye of Bambi, and Frank's as well as Clement Ogbonnaya of the Prince of Peckham are behind the custom soundsystem as well as a full-throttle events programme. Food also promises to be a strong point, with chefs Opeoluwa Odutayo, Sophie Wyburd, and Terri Mercieca of Happy Endings holding court in the kitchen.
