James Gunn Reveals New PEACEMAKER Season 2 Opening Song From "Objectively the Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World" — GeekTyrant
Peacemaker is back and ready to dance his way into the new DCU, and this time he's bringing the fire with a brand-new opening song. During a private event at San Diego Comic-Con, James Gunn revealed that the new opening title sequence features the entire cast grooving to Foxy Shazam's song 'Oh Lord.' Fans of the first season will remember the now-iconic dance intro set to 'Do Ya Wanna Taste It' by Wig Wam. Season 2 keeps the quirky spirit alive with a fresh beat and fresh choreography, and it's just as hilarious and over-the-top as you'd hope. Gunn himself hyped up the reveal at Comic-Con, saying: "I am here to reveal right now – it is a song from my favorite band in the world that is objectively the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world, Foxy Shazam, here they are. They're gonna perform it for you guys – 'Oh Lord' – come on guys!" We got a live performance and a sneak peek at the new sequence, which features returning cast members like John Cena, Jennifer Holland, and Freddie Stroma, as well as newcomers including Frank Grillo and Tim Meadows. Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr., joked: "I was really against it because I'm a serious actor. I thought so! But I had such a great time watching Tim Meadows suffer." Meadows shot back with a laugh: "I was horrible. Everybody expected me to be good, and I don't want to say why they expected me to be good, but I was horrible." Gunn chimed in to name Holland and Stroma as standout dancers, but as always, fans will be the final judges once the new season drops. Aside from the funky new intro, Gunn spoke about where Peacemaker is heading in Season 2. He emphasized how the show explores character growth and change, saying: "I really like TV shows where the characters don't just return every season and they're the same exact characters. I want to see growth. I want to see change and sometimes regression. And Peacemaker is a different guy this year. 'He's dealing with the demons he uncovered from the first season and trying to deal with them, and the world is not accepting him the way he is. They aren't accepting him as a hero." This season continues the story from The Suicide Squad , with Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. on a mission for revenge after Peacemaker killed his son. Expect multiverse madness, alternate versions of familiar faces, and some heavy-hitting DC cameos that may ripple into the larger DC Universe. Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21. Get ready for more mayhem, more heart, and yes, more awkwardly fun dancing.

A new trailer for has been released. The first season of Peacemaker premiered on HBO Max in January 2022. Created by James Gunn, the show serves as a spin-off to 2021's The Suicide Squad and sees John Cena reprise his role as Chris Smith. The second season of Peacemaker premieres next month. While the first season took place in the DCEU, which ended with 2023's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Peacemaker Season 2 will now be part of Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU. ‘The Purge' Movies May Return to Keep America Violent
During the 2010s, Blumhouse's The Purge series came out a reliable clip, and even had a TV show. It seemed to have wound down with 2021's The Forever Purge, but since then, creator James DeMonaco has decided there's at least one more story to tell in that universe. While doing press for his new horror movie The Home, DeMonaco told Bloody Disgusting he and his wife wrote a script together that's now in the hands of Blumhouse boss Jason Blum. He didn't give the whole game away, but teased it would bring back 'someone who I love and I think the audience loves,' likely referencing Frank Grillo's Leo Barnes, the Punisher-esque lead of The Purge: Anarchy and its direct follow up, Election Year, but was nowhere to be found in Forever. And as far as new material goes, DeMonaco added the script introduces 'some really amazing women. We've had some great women in the past, but real warrior women come forth here in a way that we haven't really explored on Purge night.' Of the whole script, he called it 'cool and fun, and I hope they like it. We're hoping next year would be great to shoot, maybe the end of this year if timing works out. But now it's with the powers that be, so we'll see what happens.' If a sixth Purge gets the green light, it'll be coming at the right time. There's a lot going on in America for it to satirize, and Blumhouse could use a potential pick-me-up after its last few movies this year came out to more muted reactions than expected. A new Peacemaker Season 2 trailer was shown exclusively in theaters ahead of Superman , and it teases the show's leap from the now-defunct DCEU into James Gunn's freshly-minted DCU. In the teaser, we hear the line: 'There's another dimension. That's exactly the same as ours. But it's better.' Peacemaker then chimes in with a typical Chris Smith spin: 'Best dimension ever.' It seems the show will be leaning into the multiverse concept, likely as a way to bridge its DCEU roots with the rebooted DCU. An earlier teaser showed Peacemaker stepping through a portal and facing a variant of himself, which confirmed the use of the Multiverse in the story. In Superman , Lex Luthor's experiments begin to tease the existence of alternate realities. It looks like Peacemaker Season 2 is goinh to utlixe that in its stpry. The season picks up after the events of Superman , placing Peacemaker squarely in this new continuity. Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord (introduced briefly in Superman) will interview Peacemaker as a candidate for the 'Justice Gang'. Familiar faces from Superman , like Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, are also set to appear in the show. Peacemaker Season 2 will see the return of characters including Freddie Stroma's unhinged Vigilante, Danielle Brooks' Leota Adebayo, Steve Agee's Economos, and Jennifer Holland's Emilia Harcourt. When it comes to food and drinks, Italians take things very seriously, but a vodka brand based in southern Italy is inspiring a creative approach to cocktails that blurs the line between aperitivo and dinner. Known as Altamura Distilleries, founder Frank Grillo is both respectful of the Mediterranean country's rich culinary traditions, while also inviting bartenders and chefs in Italy and around the world to explore these traditions in innovative ways with its Italian premium vodka. For Grillo, it all started with a loaf of bread—and not just any bread. In 2020, Grillo—an American with southern Italian heritage and a passion for cooking—came across a recipe for pane di Altamura. This particular baked good has Protected Designation of Origin status from the European Union, meaning that there are specific rules and regulations about where and how it can be made. Most notably, the dough must be prepared with varieties of Durum wheat semolina that grow only in Puglia. After baking what he calls a 'rogue loaf' of pane di Altamura outside the regional boundaries, Grillo was intrigued by the flavor of the special wheat and asked himself: 'What if we could take this bread and express it in a liquid format, instead of a baked format?' A couple years after Grillo did just that, his curiosity and willingness to experiment at the intersection between food and drinks has spurred others to be equally playful with Altamura Distilleries vodka in terms of both mixology and pairings. The savory notes of Altamura Distilleries vodka have inspired not only bartenders, but chefs, too. Key to this is the savory flavor of the vodka, which reflects the terroir of Puglia and its ancient grains. Though vodka is not historically an Italian beverage or generally a spirit sipped slowly alongside meals, Grillo says this one is 'a food-friendly alcohol' and advocates pairing it with umami-forward bites, such as oysters or cheese, especially Parmigiano-Reggiano.
