Town centre closed off and buildings evacuated as fire crews descend on scene
A TOWN centre has been closed off and buildings evacuated.
Emergency services are at the scene of a fire in Halifax town centre this morning with a large part of Market Street cordoned off.
The focus of attention looked to be the building that houses Franklyns Jewellers and Goldsmiths, with a member of the public saying windows above the store were all open.

"It looks as though nearby buildings have been evacuated while the incident is dealt with and a lot of people are gathered wondering what is going on
"Obviously with it being a Saturday, a lot of people are out and about
"You could smell the smoke in the air."
