Sioux City Art Center holds ‘Free Family Art' Day
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Saturday's nice weather brought families downtown to the Sioux City Art Center for its second annual Free Family Art Day. Activities took place outside on the center's lawn and inside the art center and the learning center buildings. Families could participate in arts and crafts projects, scavenger hunts, face painting. There was also a photo booth and magic. Plus, pork sandwiches were served and everything was free. 'The art activities are work for kids to work along with their parents. We have some activities where parents and teens can work together. We want people to bond together through art. But, we also, long term, want people to make sure that they remember, we're here for them. The art center is open six days a week. Free, always something going on. The learning center always has art activities going on for kids and adults. It's also an open house for the community to come back and remember what makes us so special,' said Todd Behrens, Director of the Sioux City Art Center. Date announced for River-Cade's 17th annual Barstool Open
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Another summer of River-Cade events is beginning, starting with a traditional mini golf tournament. The 17th annual Barstool Open is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 and will feature 18 bars, 18 holes and plenty of fun, River-Cade announced Friday. Check-in for the 'Puttapalooza' starts at 11:30 a.m. at Buffalo Alice, with tee off at noon. Teams of four can register at any of the participating bars now or on the day of the event. Sioux City Art Center to host Free Family Art Day Phil Claeys with River-Cade told KCAU 9 that last year's event drew in a big crowd, and he hopes that will happen again this year. 'It's a day of fun golfing, like I say, a little too much beer drinking, but what the heck? We're all adults!,' he said. 'I hope everyone turns out 'cause its just a very, very fun afternoon.' Any teams who are creatively dressed will receive a special prize. At the end of the Puttapalooza, Buffalo Alice will host an after-party at 5 p.m. KCAU 9 is a proud sponsor of this event. Sioux City Art Center to host Free Family Art Day

The event will take place on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Art Center's campus. There will be activities in the main Art Center building, in the Learning Center, and outside on the front lawn. 2nd annual Breakfast by the Bridge event raises awareness of youth homelessness Activities will include arts and crafts projects, games and scavenger hunts, magic, balloons, face painting, and free pork sandwiches and snacks.
