Tripoli journalists' union condemns killing of Al Jazeera crew in Gaza
The Journalists' Syndicate in Tripoli and western Libya has strongly condemned what it called a 'massacre' carried out by the occupying Israeli forces on Sunday evening, which killed five members of Al Jazeera's crew in Gaza, including journalists Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa.
In a statement issued late Sunday, the syndicate expressed full solidarity with journalists working in Gaza, who it said are being deliberately targeted and assassinated in an attempt to suppress information and erase evidence of 'atrocities, genocide, and starvation' being inflicted on the Palestinian people, particularly in the besieged enclave.
Observers say the killing of Al-Sharif, Qreiqa and their colleagues reflects an apparent intention by Israel to eliminate journalists in Gaza City ahead of a planned military takeover. The Israeli government reportedly approved a phased plan to seize full control of the territory last Friday. News Tagged: Gaza Journalists Press Freedom Media Under Attack Human Rights war crimes
