Orlando Pirates' R14 million outcast finally spotted
Orlando Pirates have let go of several high-profile players this winter. Judging by early season results, will this come back to bite them? Karim Kimvuidi, Mohau Nkota, Monnapule Saleng and Zakhele Lepasa are all embarking on new challenges. Kimvuidi recently made an appearance on the bench for his new club. 'Nkota is already a better player after leaving Pirates' DR Congo playmaker Karim Kimvuidi was in FC Ashdod's squad for their 2-0 loss against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Cup at the weekend. The 23-year-old struggled to nail downb a regular place in the Pirates side during his three years with the club. After hesitating to sell Monnapule Saleng, and with all possible suitors knowing he was unhappy at the club, Pirates scuppered a massive opportunity to make some money on the player, with a weakened bargaining position. It's unlikely the Sea Robbers would have fetched a number in that region, but there's no reason why the 2022-2023 PSL Player of the Year should be leaving on a free transfer. However, that's the most likely scenario with the player out on loan with Orbit College for the 2025-2026 season. After all, there were substantial rumours of offers from Standard Liege in Belgium and French Ligue giants Monaco. Details: Saleng returns to Orbit College 29-year-old Nkosinathi Sibisi will wear the captain's armband at Pirates in 2025-2026. He was a key figure last season alongside breakout star Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the heart of defence after Thabiso Sesane was struck down with a long-term injury. What happens when Sesane returns will be fascinating, as he might even dislodge the new captain. That's a nice problem for new boss Ouaddao to have, though. Sibisi made 42 appearances last season across all competitions, including 25 in the league. The Sea Robbers have started this season in awful shape, losing to Sekhukhune and Marumo Gallants. The Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, has branded PSG the most in-form side in Europe and knows his team have to be near-perfect to advance. I do think so [that the best performance of the season will be needed] because PSG are the most complete team we have faced so far. What I mean by complete is, OK, we have faced Arsenal and City and they are not big margins, but the intensity they played at combined with the quality they have and they are one of the richest clubs. Maybe there is one club a bit further ahead. They have so much quality and a great manager who has the team playing in a way that is not easy to play against. He brings the best out of every player and brings out an incredible work-rate. We have to be at our best. But we didn't have ball possession at City away – the other richest club in the world together with Paris Saint-Germain – and at home we had a completely different performance against City. Share On the flight home from Paris last week, the Liverpool players were likely counting their lucky stars after their 1-0 defeat of Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. It was a classic smash-and-grab, with the hosts dominating for most of the match. Alisson kept the visitors in the match with nine saves and Harvey Elliot ensured the visitors left the French capital with something, scoring moments after he came off the bench, the goal coming completely against the run of play. The tie is far from over. A hungry PSG side will be keen of righting the loss of last Wednesday while Liverpool will hope to put on a better showing and record another famous night at Anfield under the lights.
