More than one million coolers were previously recalled in February, and an additional 130,000 were pulled after the recall was expanded on May 8, 2025 The recall was expanded due to "78 more reports of fingertip injuries, including 26 resulting in fingertip amputations, bone fractures or lacerations," according to USA Today. More than 75,000 cases over-the-counter eye care products including artificial tears and other ophthalmic solutions distributed by AvKARE were recalled over a potential sterility issue. The voluntary recall was issued after a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) audit uncovered a manufacturing deviation that may pose a health risk to consumers, although the health risk was not specified in the report. On May 6, the FDA gave the recall the second-highest risk level. You can find specific lot codes and expiration dates on the AvKare news release, as well as a full list of the recalled items.
