BTS member V logs 400 million Spotify streams with Winter Ahead

SEOUL - V of South Korean boyband BTS amassed 400 million plays on Spotify with his single Winter Ahead. It is his sixth solo effort to reach the milestone, after Love Me Again, Christmas Tree, Sweet Night, Fri(end)s and Slow Dancing. He co-wrote and sang the seasonal tune with Park Hyoshin in November 2024 and entered Billboard's Hot 100 at No. 99. It is his fifth solo entry on the main singles chart. His former entries include the drama soundtrack Christmas Tree from 2022; Love Me Again and Slow Dancing, the prerelease and main track from his first solo album Layover in 2023; and the digital single Fri(end)s, which dropped in 2024. Winter Ahead also made The 27 Best Winter Songs For The Season listed by Billboard magazine. Fri(end)s was featured in the third season of Amazon Prime drama The Summer I Turned Pretty. BTS's V hits 500M Spotify streams with 'Slow Dancing'
BTS's V has achieved another major milestone on Spotify. As of Wednesday, V's solo track "Slow Dancing," the title song from his debut solo album "Layover," has surpassed 500 million streams on Spotify, according to the platform on Friday. This marks V's third solo track to reach the 500 million mark, following 'Love Me Again' and 'Fri(end)s.' 'Love Me Again,' the first to hit this milestone, has since surpassed 1 billion streams as of December 2024. Released in September 2023, 'Slow Dancing' is a pop R&B track rooted in 1970s soul, with a touch of jazz and a flute solo in the outro, adding to the track's unique and nostalgic charm. Upon its release, the song charted at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 24 on the UK Official Singles Chart, underscoring its global appeal. "Layover" made history as the first Korean album to win 'Favorite Debut Album' at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for eight consecutive weeks. "Layover" is also the first album from a K-pop soloist to have all of its tracks surpass 100 million streams on Spotify. So far, V has released 12 solo songs that have each exceeded 100 million streams on Spotify, cementing his impact as a global solo artist.

BTS' V surpasses 300m Spotify streams with ‘Winter Ahead'
V of BTS logged 300 million streams on Spotify with his solo winter song 'Winter Ahead (feat. Park Hyoshin).' It is his seventh solo effort to achieve the feat. The seasonal tune was unveiled in November and entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 99 and the UK Official Singles Top 100 at No. 86. It was chosen among 'The 27 Best Winter Songs for the Season' listed by Billboard magazine. Last week, he hit the 500-million mark on the platform with 'Fri(end)s,' his second solo single to reach the milestone, after 'Love Me Again,' which exceeded 1 billion. 'Fri(end)s' was dropped as a digital single in March 2024 and ranked No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 13 on the UK Official Singles Top 100.
