Several Met Office weather warnings are in place across the UK today as Storm Floris makes landfall.
Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England are all impacted by the weather alerts, with winds of up 80mph expected. In some regions, there is a "danger to life".
The warnings expire as midnight tonight. As well as the "danger to life", the Met Office says Storm Floris could cause power cuts and damage to buildings.

Edinburgh festival events cancelled
Numerous events at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival have been cancelled ahead of Storm Floris.
The festival said its Ceilidh Sessions event had been cancelled due to the city council's decision to close Princess Street Gardens ahead of the storm, reported The Scotsman.
Events at the Fridge by the Sea festival in North Berwick were cancelled today.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society said: "Should a show be cancelled, our customer services team will be in touch with customers who have purchased tickets."

Gusts 'unprecedented' for August
Meteorologist Scott Duncan said gusts from the storm are set to be "unprecedented" for August.

Storm Floris to bring 'extremely rough' conditions
A weather forecaster has warned that Storm Floris will bring 'extremely rough' conditions to coastal areas.
Jim Dale, founder of the British Weather Services, told the BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday: 'Remember this is summertime: people are milling around on holiday, bank holiday in Scotland, for example.
'So some 'summer articles', if you like, in gardens, on the beaches, are all going to be there: slides, picnic tables, swings, all ready to be thrown around by the wind. That's the danger that we've got at this moment in time.
'These ones (alerts) are put out for very, very good reason.
'If you are venturing out: keep away from the forest, keep away from the woods, keep off the coastal plain…
'It'll become extremely rough on those coasts as the high tide comes in.'

'Watch your backs,' warns meteorologist
A meteorologist has warned people in regions affected by a weather alert to 'watch their backs' as Storm Floris brings unseasonably strong winds.
A yellow warning for wind for northern parts of the UK became active at 6am on Monday and will last until 6am on Tuesday.
The warnings have been upgraded to amber for much of Scotland, lasting from 10am to 10pm.
Jim Dale, founder of the British Weather Services, has described the storm as 'serious' and 'unusual' for the summer months.
He told the BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday: 'The yellow warning does expand down into northern England, north Wales, Northern Ireland.
'So it's still going to be gusty day – you're going to have to watch your back.'

Grey skies over Blackpool
Hopes for a summer getaway in Blackpool have been dashed as grey skies and rain set in over the seaside town.
Good Morning Britain correspondent Jonathan Swain highlighted the conditions would be miserable for people who arrived in the town on holiday.

Speed restrictions on trains in Scotland
Scotrail has announced it will put a 50mph speed restriction in place amid concerns over Storm Floris.
It added"significantly" fewer services will run and some routes will stop around lunch time.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has announced services will not run north of Newcastle today.
It said: "LNER are advising that customers do not travel north of Newcastle until the end of the day. All stations north of Newcastle will not be served."

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performance for today has been cancelled due to weather concerns.
Edinburgh Tattoo said in a statement: "We understand this will be disappointing, but the safety of our audience, performers and staff is our top priority."

Drivers warned of treacherous roads
Motorists have been warned about the road on Monday with Storm Floris set to batter northern parts of the UK.
In an alert issued today, National Highways said: "Storm Floris will bring strong winds across the network through Monday with Storm force winds expected for the North West, Yorkshire and Humber and North East regions.
"Many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph with 60-70 mph expected along exposed coasts and high ground.
"High sided vehicles, caravans, motorbikes and other vulnerable vehicles are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk."
Their advice for driving in high winds includes slowing down and focussing on the road ahead due to the possiblity of debris, avoiding exposed sections of road, keeping 'good control' of your vehicle with two hands on the wheel.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will not take place tomorrow as originally planned, after organisers took the decision to cancel the event due to severe weather warnings.
Storm Floris is expected to hit the capital with winds reaching up to 95 mph in some areas. Tattoo bosses announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated event on Sunday night, issuing a statement at around 9.30pm.
The statement read: 'We're sorry to announce that due to adverse weather warnings, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's performance on 4 August at 9:30 pm.
'We understand this will be disappointing, but the safety of our audience, performers and staff is our top priority.

An amber weather warning is in place for the majority of Scotland between 10am and 10pm on Monday.
The yellow warning for wind is also in place as far south as Manchester and north Wales as well as the entirety of Northern Ireland between 6am and midnight tomorrow.
