Ahead of the 10th anniversary of the playwright's death, his hometown of Glenties will take centre stage for the opening of a unique five-year project celebrating his work in the places that inspired it Cupped in the hands of the Bluestack Mountains, the heritage town of Glenties in south west Donegal is about to take a starring role in one of this island's most ambitious ever theatre projects. It's fitting that the town, beloved of renowned playwright Brian Friel — who died 10 years ago this October — should take centre stage at the opening of FrielDays, a five-year project celebrating the work of a man who loved this town and its environs.
