Rihanna's toddlers rock custom Dior at 'Smurfs' premiere
They can beat her, but they can't beat her (sons') outfits. Pop star, fashion founder and first lady of the "Smurfs" franchise Rihanna walked the blue carpet this weekend alongside sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 1, in custom couture. Rihanna, who is pregnant with her third child, wore a structured black Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello dress while her sons, whom she shares with rapper A$AP Rocky, donned custom children's versions of Jonathan Anderson's first Dior menswear collection, which debuted its looks in June. The dapper trio were met by life-size Smurf dolls as they walked the carpet, no doubt a treat for the toddlers who fall firmly in the age demographic to which the film caters. Rihanna shares delivery room pics: 'Yes I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses' Offering a small win to an ever-clamoring fan base, Rihanna treated loyal listeners to "Friend of Mine," a new single specifically for the "Smurfs" movie. Rihanna, who has not released a full album since 2016's "Anti," voices Smurfette in the film. This is the second such soundtrack she has contributed to for an animated movie, recording several anthems for "Home," a 2015 film she starred in alongside the "Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons. She also contributed the song "Lift Me Up" to the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" soundtrack in 2022, performing the ballad at the 2023 Oscars. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky share emotional hug after acquittal: Their relationship timeline That her two sons are as stylish as she is no surprise. The singer and mogul has been spotted around the streets of Paris in recent weeks with her two young ones in tow, posing for paparazzi shots. Since turning away from full-time recording, Rihanna has established herself as a force in the fashion world, co-chairing the Met Gala alongside Anna Wintour and hosting runway shows for her lingerie company Savage X Fenty. Her maternity fashion – when she was pregnant with both sons and now – has changed conversations about what style for expectant mothers can be, trading typical maternity looks for high-fashion garb. A$AP Rocky also lends his fashion-forward genes, having co-chaired the Met Gala as well and notching several high-profile collaborations in recent years. Getting the boys in their looks was no small feat, though. "It was getting them dressed and undressed, dressed and then undressed again 'cause they wanted to eat, lay down, tumble, and the last thing I did was get them dressed and then jump into my gown. It was like that," she joked to Elle at the premiere.

Rihanna's son Riot steals the spotlight in custom Dior at 'Smurfs' LA premiere
Rihanna's 23-moth old son, Riot Rose Mayers, made a standout fashion statement at the Smurfs Los Angeles premiere , wearing a custom Dior look designed especially for the occasion. The toddler accompanied his mother and older brother RZA at the Paramount Theater, as she celebrated her voice role as Smurfette in the new animated film. While Rihanna stunned in a chocolate brown Saint Laurent ensemble, complete with a lace-trimmed top, leather jacket, and full skirt, it was Riot who caught attention with his designer outfit. The look featured a mini tailored green jacket and trousers from the Spring 2026 Dior Men collection by Jonathan Anderson, making him one of the youngest stars to wear a couture piece on a major red carpet. The event was a family affair as the pregnant singer walked the carpet with both children. Her partner, A$AP Rocky, was not in attendance for the LA premiere, though the couple appeared together at the world premiere in Brussels last month. Rihanna makes James Corden wait 8 years before finally joining him for duet in 'Smurfs'
James Corden has finally sung with Rihanna — just not in the way fans expected. After eight years of trying to book her for Carpool Karaoke, the Late Late Show host revealed at the world premiere of Smurfs in Brussels that he and Rihanna recorded a duet for the animated film. 'I tried for eight years to get Rihanna to do a Carpool Karaoke,' said Corden. 'She would always say to me, 'When the new record is out.' And then I finished the show before that record came out.' While Rihanna hasn't dropped a full studio album since Anti in 2016, she released 'Friend of Mine' for the Smurfs soundtrack — a track fans are calling a 'club hit.' It was enough to get her behind the mic with Corden, who voices No Name Smurf, while Rihanna stars as Smurfette. 'She can really sing. But he can too! It was one of the biggest surprises of the whole thing,' Rihanna said of their musical moment. Corden joked, 'I can't talk seriously about singing with Rihanna, because it's silly.' But he also added he 'legitimately would' bring back Carpool Karaoke for one week — if Rihanna's new album ever arrives. The animated film features an ensemble cast including Dan Levy, Sandra Oh, John Goodman, and Maya Erskine. It hits theatres on Friday, July 18.

While you may be tempted by an escape to the sun this summer, you're guaranteed to have a better time packing a suitcase for Smurf Village! Smurfs is the live-action animated musical fantasy comedy film of the season, and not least because of what's shaping up to be a banging soundtrack. Ahead of its release in UK cinemas on July 18, let's dive into what exactly we have to look forward to – and why it's shaping up to be the family film of the summer… Ask any Rihanna superfan, and they'll tell you how eagerly they waited for the return of 'RiRi' to the recording studio. It's been almost a decade since her last album, and while there may be a bit more to wait 'til the next one, there's finally some new music for them to sink their ears into. One of the biggest names in music put her unique twist on the sound of the Smurfs, with hip-thrusting songs on the soundtrack. The internet was sent into a frenzy when the showstopping track 'Friend of Mine' dropped last month. Backed by a cool beat, the song captures the good vibes of the little blue besties. She'll be joined on the soundtrack by Tyla, Desi Trill featuring DJ Khaled, Cardi B and more, so there are plenty more blue-tastic beats to look forward to. Not only is Rihanna on the soundtrack, but she's also taking on one of the film's most iconic roles: Smurfette. Described by her as a 'little blue badass', the blonde powerhouse is sure to get audiences cheering. So, what's going down in Smurf Village? Well, when their peaceful community is sent into upheaval with the abduction of Papa Smurf (John Goodman), it's down to the little blue guys to venture into the real world to rescue him from evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel (JP Karliak). Leading the mission is the fearless Smurfette (Rihanna) and new guy on the block No Name (James Corden), who take charge of storming Razamel's castle and plan to take no prisoners… other than Papa, of course. And due to their tiny stature, this can't just be a solo mission. In their quest, they enlist the help of Papa's brother Ken (Nick Offerman) and the chaotic SnooterPoots, led by matriarch Mama Poot (Natasha Lyonne). With the help of their new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe. Joining film leads Rihanna and James Corden in the recording studio are some of the biggest names that Hollywood has to offer, from dramatic darlings to titans of comedy. Taking on the role of red-hatted patriarch Papa Smurf is Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award winner John Goodman. Not only has he starred in big-screen blockbusters and TV comfort watches, but he's also the voice behind some of your favourite animated characters. The list of famous voices continues with sitcom king Nick Offerman, streaming darling Xolo Maridueña, and a few others you may recognise… Expect to hear Kurt Russell, Sandra Oh, Nick Kroll, Octavia Spencer, Billie Lourde, Amy Sedaris, Dan Levy and even Kimmy Kimme in action. And it's not just Hollywood that's bringing its magic to the big screen – talent from this side of the pond are getting in on the action too. Triple threat Hannah Waddingham joins the cast as the witch Jezebeth. Some more surprising British voices are also set to grace your ears, from panel show staple Jon Richardson, West End maven Giovanna Fletcher and, wait for it… Rylan Clark! You'd be hard-pressed to find someone without a childhood memory of The Smurfs. The Belgian comic, created by Peyo back in the 50s, has worked its way into the hearts of millions across the globe over the past few decades. In Smurfs, not only will iconic characters like Smurfette, Papa Smurf and Gargamel be gracing the big screen, but they'll be joined by a roster of new characters like No Name – so named as he has yet to find what makes him unique. If you've ever wanted to see a mushroom village brought to life with the energy of a Saturday morning cartoon after three espressos, look no further. At the helm of this fantastical production is an icon of animation, director Chris Miller. Formerly a voice actor and animator, his creative mind is what brought us some instant classics like Shrek the Third to Puss in Boots. So rest assured, the blue characters are in safe hands. Production services on Smurfs were whipped together by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, while the animation muscle came courtesy of Cinesite, a dream team for all things blue, bouncy, and bizarre. Drawing inspiration from Peyo's original comics but with modern flair, it feels like The Smurfs have leapt off the page, stolen your popcorn, and just started doing backflips.
