Beloved Initial D-themed Fujiwara Tofu Shop in USJ bids farewell this Sep
In the quiet corners of USJ, there's a place that has long been more than just a cafe. Fujiwara Tofu Shop, famed for its lovingly crafted Initial D aesthetic, will soon drift into memory. On Instagram, the owners announced that the shutters will close for good on 28 Sep 2025, offering thanks to the loyal crowd who kept its engine running and inviting everyone in for one last lap before the chequered flag falls. Hidden within the industrial heartbeat of Subang Jaya, the cafe is pure fan service done right, almost like a love letter to Takumi Fujiwara's world. A perfect replica signboard marked the entrance, often flanked by the iconic Toyota AE86 Trueno as though it had just pulled up from Mount Akina. Step inside, and you'd find shelves lined with manga, figurines, steering wheels, and enough memorabilia to make any collector's pulse quicken. With arcade cabinets and racing simulators humming in the background, each visit to the eatery simply begs for a camera to be taken along. The menu, while playfully on-theme, never played second fiddle to flavour. Their signature Homemade Black Tofu, among other tofu options, is a showstopper. It's lightly crisp on the outside, impossibly tender within, and tinted with charcoal for a dramatic monochrome contrast. Other than tofu, they also offer a variety of donburi selections for every kind of appetite. The Chicken Katsu Curry is a hearty choice in its most golden, gravy-slicked form. You can also opt for their Saba Don and Gyoza. Their most famous food item, however, is their signature tofufah. Do be quick if you want to have a taste of this silky dessert, as it's almost always sold out! When the doors close at month's end, Fujiwara Tofu Shop will join the list of places we wish could have stayed just a little longer. Seiko's New ‘Initial D' Watch Puts the AE86 on Your Wrist
Summary To celebrate the 30th anniversary ofInitial D,Seikohas teamed up with Kodansha and series creator Shuichi Shigeno to release a limited-edition chronograph inspired by protagonist Takumi Fujiwara's iconic AE86. Measuring just under 40mm in case diameter, the timepieces arrive in a stainless steel build. The watch's dial features a striking panda-style two-tone design that mirrors the white-and-black paint job of the Sprinter Trueno, with the 'Fujiwara Tofu Shop' logo placed at the 4 o'clock position. Subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock mimic the AE86's dashboard gauges, while the 6 o'clock subdial bears a stylized 'D' emblem, referencing both 'drift' and 'dream.'Functionality meets fandom with premium features including a quartz movement accurate to ±15 seconds per month, curved Hardlex crystal and water resistance up to 10 bar. Lumibrite-coated hands and indices ensure visibility in low light, echoing the glow of a nighttime street race. Each piece is individually numbered out of 1,995 units — a nod to the manga's original release year. The watch arrives in a collector's box styled after the AE86's monochrome livery, complete withInitial Dbranding and an exclusive illustration card.
