Motorcyclist killed, 2 arrested for DUI in chaotic Orange County trailer crash
Two people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs after a messy RV crash left a motorcyclist dead in Orange County early Saturday morning, and officials are investigating whether the motorcyclist was also driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. It happened right around midnight on May 31, according to the Fullerton Police Department, near the intersection of North Euclid Street and Bastanchury Road. Fullerton officers arrived on the scene and found a significantly damaged 1993 Harley Davidson and a seriously injured adult male rider lying on the ground. Nearby, in the middle of a roadway west of the intersection, police said officers found a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe connected to a 1996 Prowler recreational trailer with 'visible collision damage.' Huntington Beach being listed as sanctuary city was 'serious mistake,' mayor says According to the department's preliminary investigation, a woman was driving the Chevy and RV eastbound on West Bastanchury Road when the vehicle 'experienced a mechanical issue' and stopped in the center median. A man who was also in the Chevy traded spots with the driver, attempting to reverse the vehicle, but ended up causing the Chevy and the RV to jack-knife and block off both westbound lanes. It was when the RV was splayed across the westbound lanes that the motorcyclist, traveling from North Euclid Street, crashed into the trailer. Paramedics later arrived at the crash and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released. 'Both the adult female driver and the adult male who attempted to move the vehicle were arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs,' the police department stated. 'It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in relation to the rider's operation of the motorcycle.' Fullerton police make over 30 arrests for burglary, narcotics violations, grand theft and more in "active" couple of days
More than 30 people were arrested in Fullerton for a slew of different crimes in what police called an "active" couple of days. Exact specifics for many of the incidents were not released, but an Instagram post shared by the Fullerton Police Department released a number of details regarding some of the larger investigations that took place. "The past couple of days have been active for the Fullerton Police Department, with officers and detectives responding to a range of incidents and making significant progress in multiple investigations," the post said. In one incident, officers were called for reports of an auto burglary that also included a firearm being stolen, the post said. They were able to determine that the suspect was staying at a motel in the area and recovered the stolen items, as well as other stolen property from unrelated cases. That suspect was arrested and booked for various felony charges, police said. That same day, they were called to Lemon Street and Valley View Drive for reports of vandalism. While canvassing the area they spotted a suspect, who tried to flee on foot. They were arrested following a brief foot chase. Shortly after this incident, police near Orangethorpe Avenue and Magnolia Avenue made a traffic stop and found a loaded firearm and illegal narcotics inside of the vehicle, the post said. The driver of that vehicle was taken into custody on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges. Officers also recovered a statue that had been stolen from a home in the city. It was recovered and returned to its rightful owner, but they did not say if anyone was arrested for the grand theft. "In total, Fullerton Police made more than 30 arrests over Thursday and Friday," the post said. "Arrests included charges for DUI, narcotics offenses, outstanding warrants, and various other crimes."
