Village funday returns for all fun for the family
Edgworth Village Fun Day returns on June 8. Held at The Barlow, it is the village's biggest event of the year and takes over The Barlow Estate. Attractions include fairground rides, market stalls, food, entertainment and much more. Also returning will be scallywags will also be returning. Old Town Arts Festival returns: Here's all the events you shouldn't miss
One of Swindon's biggest festivals, which made its comeback last year, is preparing to hit the streets again with over 30 events. The Old Town Arts Festival had been a key event on Swindon's calendar for more than 24 years, but it was put on hold in 2020 when the world entered a global pandemic. After making a successful comeback in 2024, the festival is now preparing to return to town from Saturday, June 1, 2025, for a whole week of free or cheap family events. The festival will kick off at the start of June with a family fun day in Town Gardens offering food, drink, live music, workshops, market stalls and more. Celebrations will then continue throughout the week with a variety of fringe events, all centred around the arts, before concluding on June 8 with a street party for all on Wood Street. Wood Street celebrations were a hit with locals in 2024 (Image: Newsquest) "In 2025, we would like the festival to be a wider platform for local talent, artists, organisations and provide a bigger opportunity for the community to be engaged in the festival through workshops, events, and sessions," said a spokesperson for the Old Town association. "A variety of locations and activities will be on offer, whilst honouring the spirit and essence of what the festival was all about - bringing Old Town together." Swindon Brass Band concert - 3pm in Queens Park. Free to enter. Old Railway Path Guided Walk - 3pm to 5.30pm, leaving from The Wheatsheaf. This is a 3.4 mile walk, costing £2 which will be donated to Prospect Hospice. Comedy at the Bowl - 7pm at Town Gardens Bowl. Tickets cost £11. Sunday, June 2 The Fender Stratocaster Music Talk by Jamie Stapleton - 8pm at The Tuppenny pub. Free to attend. Monday, June 3 Make and Cake - 7-9pm at Artsite on Theatre Square. Tickets are £15 on the door. Jazz Night - 8pm at the Royal Oak in Old Town. The session will be led by award winning musician Dennis Rollins MBE and is free to attend. Tuesday, June 4 Brush and Bloom - 11.30am to 1.30pm in Old Town Library. This is guided acrylic painting session which is free to attend, but you must book online. Organ Recital - 1pm at Christ Church. Free to attend. Steamrollers 5k social run - A free running event leaving at 6.15pm from Tap & Brew pub. Sarah McQuaid - Live music at Swindon Arts Centre, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £16. Meet the authors at Bert's Books - 4pm at Bert's Books with author Alexandra Strick and illustrator Steve Antony. Free to attend. Harry Apps in Concert - Swindon-born West End star Harry Apps will return home for one night only for an evening of musical theatre favourites. 7.30pm at Swindon Arts Centre. Visit Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park: Your guide to 2025 season, including rides and tickets
Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park was born unintentionally. The owners of a property with two stunning caverns found the demand for tours to be so large they installed rides to keep tourists entertained while waiting. USA TODAY 10BEST has previously honored the caves and its rides. The park also serves as a community hub with concerts and other events. Residents of nearby counties can get free gondola passes each spring that give them access to the mountaintop venue, although the coasters and tours come at an additional cost. Check out what brings people to the highest of Colorado's major amusement parks and waterparks. The adventure park is located on top of Iron Mountain near Glenwood Springs. It has year-round operations with a lighter schedule outside of the summer. Its online schedule shows the park open every day from May 13 through Sept. 1 with hours stretching from 9 am. to 7 p.m. for much of that time before it starts mixing in off-days again. The calendar lists some operating days into January 2026. From the Gondola Ride to the top of Iron Mountain to the alpine coaster back down and the cave tours, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park plays to its unique location. Not all rides are open every day and the harsh weather common on Colorado mountaintops can shut some attractions down, so check the weather and the website before going. Single-day advance tickets start at $32 for just gondola rides up Iron Mountain, ranging up to $79 for a Fun Day ticket that includes access to a cave tour, alpine coaster and other attractions on the mountaintop. A two-day Fun Day pass is $104. Local residents can get free annual gondola passes and discounted annual thrill passes for $94 ($10 cheaper for kids 3 to 10) through May 18. Full-price annual gondola passes are $63 while thrill passes run $157. Attendees can look forward to 'have-a-go' activities, photo booths, and competitions - with prizes including Apple AirPods Max headphones and a £50 ASOS voucher. Xplore and Sbarduno will host science workshops, including slime-making and a planetarium experience. The Community Fun Days are set to take place at Coleg Llandrillo's Rhyl campus and Coleg Menai's Bangor campus on Saturday, June 7, from 11am to 3pm and 11am to 2pm, respectively. Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor's Dolgellau CaMDA campus will host its Fun Day on Saturday, June 14, from 11am to 2pm. The Fun Days will also showcase courses at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai's campuses, and there will be stalls and games from local companies and charities, alongside food and drink. Attendance at the Fun Days is free of charge. The Fun Days are particularly geared towards school children who may be interested in going to to college; parents; jobseekers or job-switchers; anyone interested in what college and local services have to offer; and families looking for a day out.
