Oklahoma Sooners projected to land 2027 4-Star Quarterback
The Oklahoma Sooners have their quarterback situation settled for the 2026 recruiting class after Bowe Bentley committed to OU last Friday. And it seems they may well be on their way to having the answer to their 2027 quarterback question. On Tuesday evening, Brandon Drumm of OUInsider and Rivals entered a Futurecast favoring the Oklahoma Sooners to land four-star quarterback prospect Peyton Houston. Houston, out of Louisiana, is considered the No. 1 quarterback in the class, according to ESPN. He's the No. 6 QB in the cycle per Rivals. It's the second prediction from the OUInsider crew favoring the Sooners. Drumm's Futurecast comes a year after Parker Thune, also of OUInsider and Rivals predicted Houston to the Sooners last year. Houston currently holds 26 Power Four offers, including 10 SEC offers at this point. It's clear he's one of the most sought-after passers in the class. He was in Norman for Oklahoma's Future Freaks weekend back in March and had a glowing review of the Sooners. "The atmosphere and the people in Oklahoma are what continue to bring me back," Houston told Sooners Wire back in March. "The players and coaches all seem to be in the same thought process and all have bought into the program." While there's a long way to go in Houston's recruitment, the Sooners have put themselves in a strong position to land the talented passer out of Louisiana. Oklahoma Sooners projected to land talented 2026 Defensive Tackle
The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be on the verge of landing their first defensive commitment of the 2026 recruiting class. Brian Harris, a defensive tackle prospect out of Jacksonville, Fla. is set to announce his commitment on May 23. Over a week away from his commitment ceremony, On3 Director of National Recruiting Steve Wiltfong issued an On3 prediction favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in Harris' recruitment. Advertisement Harris is a three-star defensive tackle prospect but is currently listed at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds. He has offers from a strong group of college programs, including Michigan, Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, Auburn, West Virginia, and Penn State. He was previously in Norman for Oklahoma's Future Freaks weekend at the beginning of March and will be in Norman for an official visit on June 6. Back in March he was named the UA Next Orlando MVP for his work at the camp. As a player, Harris has really good size for the defensive line. What jumps off the screen the most is his quickness and the force with which he plays. He's a violent player and blends a physical playing style with really good athleticism for a guy nearly 300 pounds. For Mandarin High, he lined up as a defensive end in three-man fronts a lot, showing off the ability to get around the corner to attack quarterbacks. He does a great job in backside pursuit, displaying a strong motor to get down the line and chase the running back down from behind. He shows a good understanding of playing with angles and using his arm-length to get around offensive linemen. Advertisement Here's what Harris told Rivals' John Garcia back on May 10. "OU has great potential and great consistency when it comes to coaches and communication with me. They see me as a top priority guy on their board and that speaks volumes for me." The Oklahoma Sooners appear to be close to earning a commitment from a talented and underrated prospect in the 2026 class. Brian Harris will be a difference-maker at the collegiate level and could even be a day-one contributor. Highlights Watch Brian Harris' highlights on Hudl. Big Ten Spotlight: Committed prospects on flip watch
Rivals national recruiting analyst Greg Smith takes a look at four Big Ten commitments that could be at risk to flip their pledges before the end of the year. MORE: Future Freaks impresses several of Oklahoma's priority targets, new offers CLASS OF 2025 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2026 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State CLASS OF 2027 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Team | Position | State TRANSFER PORTAL: Full coverage | Player ranking | Team ranking | Transfer search | Transfer Tracker The elite 2027 four-star receiver is committed to defending national champion Ohio State. He's from Ohio and the Buckeyes have a strong track record at his position. Needless to say, Ohio State has a lot going in its favor in this recruitment but it's still very early. Oregon has been a frequent opponent on the recruiting trail and just offered Brown. Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida State and Florida are all programs that he has some interest in, too. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT The four-star defensive end surprised many when he gave his verbal commitment to USC last October. Many things have changed since then with USC's staff, especially with its recruiting staff. There's no doubt that other powers closer to home in Chicago will make a push. Notre Dame was the favorite before the surprise commitment. Michigan has been on fire with elite recruits lately. The in-state Illini are trying hard to keep big-time players home. USC's season will likely go a long way in determining how this one plays out. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH USC FANS AT The Ohio native was part of a huge run of commitments for Illinois in February. The program has a lot of momentum on and off the field. However, it's easy to see other programs circling the waters on its recruits. The Illini have a staff that evaluates well and Singleton is another example of that. Before his commitment, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Michigan were heavily involved in his recruitment. Those teams and others will make the Illini sweat this one out when we get to flip season. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH ILLINOIS FANS AT Whiting went from an unranked prospect to debuting in the Rivals250 early this year. That's because he's got a great frame, athleticism and a lot of potential to be a terrific college player. Many colleges recognized this as he picked up offers from Michigan, Alabama, Iowa and others during the winter. Whiting has built a strong relationship with the Spartans' staff but will one of those more established programs circle back during the season? There is a strong chance at least one will. Michigan State will need to be prepared to fight to hang onto the big-time prospect.
