Oklahoma Sooners projected to land 2027 4-Star Quarterback

Oklahoma Sooners projected to land 2027 4-Star Quarterback

USA Today4 hours ago

The Oklahoma Sooners have their quarterback situation settled for the 2026 recruiting class after Bowe Bentley committed to OU last Friday. And it seems they may well be on their way to having the answer to their 2027 quarterback question.
On Tuesday evening, Brandon Drumm of OUInsider and Rivals entered a Futurecast favoring the Oklahoma Sooners to land four-star quarterback prospect Peyton Houston. Houston, out of Louisiana, is considered the No. 1 quarterback in the class, according to ESPN. He's the No. 6 QB in the cycle per Rivals. It's the second prediction from the OUInsider crew favoring the Sooners. Drumm's Futurecast comes a year after Parker Thune, also of OUInsider and Rivals predicted Houston to the Sooners last year.
Houston currently holds 26 Power Four offers, including 10 SEC offers at this point. It's clear he's one of the most sought-after passers in the class.
He was in Norman for Oklahoma's Future Freaks weekend back in March and had a glowing review of the Sooners.
"The atmosphere and the people in Oklahoma are what continue to bring me back," Houston told Sooners Wire back in March. "The players and coaches all seem to be in the same thought process and all have bought into the program."
While there's a long way to go in Houston's recruitment, the Sooners have put themselves in a strong position to land the talented passer out of Louisiana.

Nebraska right-handed pitcher TJ Coats enters transfer portal

Another Husker entered the portal this past weekend, making it 11 players venturing elsewhere following Nebraska's 2025 season. Right-handed pitcher TJ Coats is the latest Husker to hop in the portal, following his lone season in Lincoln. Coats entered the portal on Saturday after pitching in eight games for Nebraska. He earned three starts and tossed 11.1 innings. He finished with a 7.15 ERA and 15 strikeouts. The Overland Park, Kansas native Coats joined the Huskers after playing one season at Cloud County Community College. There, he finished with an 8-3 record in 16 appearances and 10 starts, earning a 4.52 ERA. He struck out 72 batters across 61.2 total innings pitched. Coats is the third Nebraska pitcher to hop into the portal, behind freshmen J'Shawn Unger and Aiden Lieser. The Huskers are now even with pitchers lost and gained through the portal. Nebraska landed transfers Cooper Katskee (Miami-OH), Kevin Mannell (Mississippi State) and J.D. Hennen (Augustana). 4-star DL Deuce Geralds sports Oregon football gear, turns heads at Rivals 5-Star camp

It's always fun to see highly-rated recruits come to campus and rock your favorite team's gear on official visits, but it becomes even more encouraging when you see them out on their own wearing your school colors. What's even better than that, though, is when they rock your team's colors while dominating on the field. That was the case for 4-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds this week at the Rivals 5-star camp. Geralds showed up earlier this week wearing Oregon Ducks wrist bands and showing love for Dan Lanning's squad coming off of his official visit to Eugene. Later on the field, Geralds ended up dominating, too, showing out in a group of elite players in pass-rushing drills. Standing at 6-foot-2, 265 pounds, Geralds is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 73 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 9 defensive lineman. He has taken official visits to LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, Michigan, and Ohio State, all of whom he listed among his top 10 schools earlier this year. Deuce Geralds Rocking Oregon Gear Early DL MVP Deuce Geralds Getting After It Another DL MVP? After winning the Rivals 5-star DL MVP a year ago, there was some speculation that Geralds might be able to take home the honor once again, but it ended up going to Ohio State commit Khary Wilder. Nonetheless, this Oregon target showed that he has some high upside, as well as some love for the Ducks.
