Another Husker entered the portal this past weekend, making it 11 players venturing elsewhere following Nebraska's 2025 season. Right-handed pitcher TJ Coats is the latest Husker to hop in the portal, following his lone season in Lincoln.
Coats entered the portal on Saturday after pitching in eight games for Nebraska. He earned three starts and tossed 11.1 innings. He finished with a 7.15 ERA and 15 strikeouts.
The Overland Park, Kansas native Coats joined the Huskers after playing one season at Cloud County Community College. There, he finished with an 8-3 record in 16 appearances and 10 starts, earning a 4.52 ERA. He struck out 72 batters across 61.2 total innings pitched.
Coats is the third Nebraska pitcher to hop into the portal, behind freshmen J'Shawn Unger and Aiden Lieser.
The Huskers are now even with pitchers lost and gained through the portal. Nebraska landed transfers Cooper Katskee (Miami-OH), Kevin Mannell (Mississippi State) and J.D. Hennen (Augustana).

Why Zion Robinson is a pivotal recruiting pickup for Michigan, Bryce Underwood

Michigan's strategy in recruiting is to surround quarterback Bryce Underwood with big wide receivers who can run. The Wolverines took another step in that direction Wednesday by landing a commitment from Zion Robinson, a four-star prospect from Mansfield, Texas, and the son of Khadevis Robinson, a U.S. Olympian in the 800 meters. Advertisement Robinson, the No. 132 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings, picked Michigan over Stanford, Miami and Nebraska. His father, now the director of track and field at TCU, was a four-time U.S. outdoor champion in the 800 and made the U.S. Olympic team in 2004 and 2012. Zion Robinson, who specialized in sprints and high jump as a track athlete, has the long-range speed to pull away from defenders and the size to bring down jump balls at 6 feet 3 and 180 pounds. Robinson won a state high jump championship as a sophomore before opting to focus on football and basketball as a junior. He's still learning the nuances of playing wide receiver, but his size and speed attracted the attention of college recruiters coming out of his sophomore season at Mansfield. 'He was pretty raw, like most freshmen are when they come in,' said Mansfield coach Gregory George. 'We didn't see him as a freshman on the football field, but he's one that has developed into a pretty good receiver. He has a lot of good tools: good hands, can go catch a ball, fast, runs good routes. He has a lot of God-given ability in terms of being an athlete. We're looking forward to him being able to use that as a profession.' Coach Sherrone Moore has emphasized recruiting tall wide receivers with basketball backgrounds who can box out defenders and make contested catches, even when the throw isn't perfect. Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley is expected to fill that role for the Wolverines this season, and Michigan added size in its 2025 class with Jamar Browder at 6-5 and Jacob Washington at 6-3. Michigan has its eyes on two other big wide receivers for 2026 in 6-5 Calvin Russell, a top-50 prospect from Miami, and 6-3 Travis Johnson, a top-150 prospect from Chesapeake, Va. Johnson is expected to announce a decision July 4, and Russell has an announcement scheduled for the following day. The Wolverines also have a commitment from Jaylen Pile, a three-star wide receiver from Dallas.

Michigan football secures 4-star WR Zion Robinson for 2026, revamping offense

Michigan football is looking to revamp the offense in a big way, having brought in No. 1 overall player in quarterback Bryce Underwood, offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, wide receivers Donaven McCulley, Andrew Marsh, and Jamar Browder, and running back Justice Haynes. If all goes to plan, the Wolverines will look much different (and better) on the offensive side of the ball. But what about the future? The maize and blue have one wide receiver committed thus far in 2026 Dallas (Tx.) Parish Episcopal three-star Jaylen Pile, but they're still making moves to fill out the rest of the class and the position group. On Wednesday, the Wolverines got a big boost, dipping again into the state of Texas, with Mansfield (Tx.) four-star wideout Zion Robinson committing to Michigan football. He announced his commitment on Instagram live. Scouting report Here's the scouting report on Robinson from 247Sports' Gabe Brooks: Tall outside target pushing 6-foot-3 with excellent multi-sport athletic context in basketball and track and field. More polished pass catchers are out there, but very few boast this combination of above-the-rim hardwood context, a state championship high jump gold medal, and corresponding high-level athleticism in pads. Frame and explosion foster contested-catch dominance. Displays sneaky run-after-catch effectiveness relative to frame and straight-line top-end gear. Shows adequate acceleration that times requires a build-up runway, but leads to breakaway long speed. Still developing hands consistency and route technique, but showed encouraging signs during junior season and Spring 2025 elite camp evaluation. A particularly high-ceiling outside receiver prospect who could become an impact player in college with long-term pro potential. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, the No. 71 player in the country, according to 247Sports, should give a big boost to the Wolverines' passing attack. He chose the maize and blue over Miami, Texas Tech, Stanford, and Nebraska. Junior highlights The current class and who Michigan is still targeting Michigan football is still working on 2026 Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star wideout Travis Johnson, and appears to have surged in the recruitment of Miami (Fla.) Northwestern five-star Calvin Russell. Here is what the class now looks like with Robinson in the fold, using the 247Sports Composite rankings:

Here's where CBS Sports expects these two Gators to go in upcoming 2025 NBA draft

The 2025 NBA draft is nearly here, and ahead of Wednesday night's start to the festivities, fans of the Florida basketball program are waiting with bated breath to see where some of their departing national champions might land among the professional ranks. Star guard Walter Clayton Jr. is a consensus pick to be taken among the first 30 selections in the first round, while fellow guard Alijah Martin has been projected for the second round. Florida's former swingman Will Richard is also available in the draft, but so far has not had much traction among the 59 predicted picks. So, where will these Gator alumni land? CBS Sports writer Kyle Boone offers his final salvo of the pre-draft season with these two predictions. Walter Clayton Jr.: No. 20, Miami Heat "Few teams have as much up-close exposure to Clayton Jr., a Florida native who played at Florida the last two seasons and led the team to the national title this spring. He's a dynamic shot-maker who can add versatility scoring on dribble jumpers and could elevate Miami's backcourt." Alijah Martin: No. 48, Memphis Grizzlies "Martin played a key role in leading two teams (FAU in 2023 and Florida in 2025) to the Final Four and helped the Gators clinch the title earlier this year. He's a big leaper who is a career 36.4% 3-point shooter."
