Nebraska right-handed pitcher TJ Coats enters transfer portal
Another Husker entered the portal this past weekend, making it 11 players venturing elsewhere following Nebraska's 2025 season. Right-handed pitcher TJ Coats is the latest Husker to hop in the portal, following his lone season in Lincoln.
Coats entered the portal on Saturday after pitching in eight games for Nebraska. He earned three starts and tossed 11.1 innings. He finished with a 7.15 ERA and 15 strikeouts.
The Overland Park, Kansas native Coats joined the Huskers after playing one season at Cloud County Community College. There, he finished with an 8-3 record in 16 appearances and 10 starts, earning a 4.52 ERA. He struck out 72 batters across 61.2 total innings pitched.
Coats is the third Nebraska pitcher to hop into the portal, behind freshmen J'Shawn Unger and Aiden Lieser.
The Huskers are now even with pitchers lost and gained through the portal. Nebraska landed transfers Cooper Katskee (Miami-OH), Kevin Mannell (Mississippi State) and J.D. Hennen (Augustana).
