Karnataka MP says new amendment to Income Tax Act will impact services of Chartered Accountants

Member of Parliament G. Kumar Naik believes that the new amendment to the existing Income Tax Act proposed by the Central Government would adversely impact services providing by Chartered Accountants. He was speaking during a discussion held by the District Commerce and Industries Association and Chartered Accountants Association about new amendments to the Act, in Yadgir on July 26. 'The Central Government has proposed amendments to the Income Tax Act. But, it could have conducted a wide discussion with experts before taking a decision,' he said, and added that if Chartered Accountants provide a detailed report on how the new amendment would impact their work, he would raise the issue in the Lok Sabha. Most of the chartered accountants, who spoke at the event, said that digital device technology would impact their personal lives, and therefore, the Central Government should keep this in mind while amending the Act. Dinesh Kumar Jain, Chairman of YDCCI, Vivek Totloorkar, Tax Committee Chairman, and Channamallikarjun Akki were among those present at the event.

Talking to whole world about Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor, but why no talk in Parliament?

In a strongly worded message posted on social media platform X, Lok Sabha member from Raichur G. Kumar Naik has criticised the ongoing silence of the Indian Parliament on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent military response, Operation Sindoor. He called for immediate convening of Parliament to discuss the matter and stressed that national security deserves a debate within the highest democratic institution — not just statements from global stages. 'For the past week, the nation has watched Union Ministers, political leaders, officials and even international dignitaries make public statements about the attack and India's response. And yet, Parliament remains shut,' Mr. Naik stated, pointing out the contrast between international commentary and domestic inaction. He expressed concern that while some political leaders are 'touring the world', others are using the tragedy for electoral gain. Even senior military figures have addressed the issue on foreign platforms, bypassing domestic democratic forums, he said. 'Parliament is not merely a building of bricks and stones. It is the sanctum of our democracy. It is where we, as elected representatives of 1.4 billion Indians, must convene to deliberate, debate and demonstrate our collective resolve in the face of adversity. Today, that House of the people remains shut. When the nation seeks clarity, reassurance and unity of purpose, Parliament must not be found wanting. This is not just about a military operation, it is about national security, accountability and a shared commitment to protecting the sovereignty of our republic,' he said, asserting that parliamentarians owe it to the people of India to speak, to question, and to listen — within the walls of India highest democratic institution. 'Parliament must open. The people deserve answers not soundbites from foreign shores,' Mr. Naik concluded.
