18-year-old man shot in LaGrange said he was leaving graduation party

LaGrange police said they are investigating after an 18-year-old was shot Tuesday night. Police said responded to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center at about 7:30 p.m. and talked to the victim, Adrian Ransom. He told police he had been at a graduation party at a home when an argument started among several of the people. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] He said as he was walking away, he heard three to four gunshots and was hit by a bullet in his upper leg, causing him to fall. Another person who was present at the gathering took him to the medical center, according to the police report. Officers said they went to the Ware Street area and spoke with several residents, who said they were unaware of any party in the are and didn't report hearing gunfire at the time in question. DeKalb County's College Ave. water main project starts soon

Those who live in or commute through DeKalb County will soon encounter some new road construction on their route. A water main replacement project will start June 9 on College Avenue, and DeKalb County officials said it is expected to last about six months, barring delays. Evening crews will work on the road from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday. Two people have now been charged after shots rang out during a birthday party at a Covington park. The incident happened on Sunday at Academy Springs Park. Police said a man and the mother of his child got into an argument during the party, and it continued to escalate over the person the man brought with him to the birthday party. That's when officers said another man opened fire on two of the people as they were trying to leave the party, forcing them to take cover behind a car that ended up being hit twice by bullets. Dy'men Henderson, of Lawrenceville, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the third degree and giving false statements.

3 charged with murder after Utah woman's body found in the woods in Atlanta

Investigators have made three arrests in the murder of a woman who was found shot to death in the woods. Atlanta police found Angela Yajahira Cortes Villegas' body along Marietta Boulevard NW on April 20. On May 23, officials arrested Denis Manuel Velasquez Rivera, Madelin Garcia and Hector Paz in Norcross. Atlanta police said Gwinnett County police, Gwinnett County sheriff's office and US Marshals assisted their fugitive unit. Garcia and Paz also have been charged with felony murder. Police said Villegas didn't have any identification on her at the time of her death. A Georgia police officer is on leave after he was arrested and charged in connection with a burglary. Columbus police were sent to a home on Chattsworth Road on Sunday in response to a burglary.
