Eamonn Holmes pleads with fans 'please think of me' after 'very sad' health update
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Eamonn Holmes has reached out to his fans for support after he gave an upsetting update about his well-being on social media. The 65-year-old ex-This Morning host, recently hospitalised after an incident while presenting the GB News Breakfast programme alongside Ellie Costello, asked his followers to 'think of him'. The mishap occurred when Eamonn tumbled off his chair during a live segment, while the camera was trained on their interviewee, political pundit Charlie Rowley. Off-camera, Ellie could be heard exclaiming "oh my gosh", and Eamonn urged Charlie to "carry on" before returning on-air after a commercial break. Following spinal surgery last year to address severe back pain from three herniated discs, the renowned presenter has been dedicated to his recovery. His mobility compromised over the past twelve months, he has had to rely on walking aids and occasionally a wheelchair. Just one week on from the chair incident at GB News, the esteemed journalist took to Instagram reminiscing about his fitter days. He shared an image sporting a sharp look with a white shirt, black trousers, co-ordinated tie, and a sleek black coat, posed as if he was about to present a news piece. In his post, Eamonn reflected: "This pic tells me this was 3 years ago in my Home City of Belfast. I was making a big extravaganza featuring The Ulster Orchestra and Film and TV music associated with famous producers," reports the Mirror. "It actually made me very sad looking at it because I could walk then and can't now . I pray to God and the new Docs that I am seeing that all will change and change soon . Keep you posted and please think of me." Supporters and friends were quick to share their well wishes, with one user commenting: "Hang in there. Am sure it's incredibly hard and dispiriting; but here's hoping that better days are to come." Another added: "This was my very first TV gig and it was such a special privilege to work with you Eamonn, you gave me amazing support and solid advice at working in the industry. Wishing you all the very best in your healing and thank you for being an inspiration. "I hope they can help you Eamonn. I'm recovering from spinal surgery. It's a long haul to recover but worth it. Sending positive thoughts for a good outcome for you," another said. After he fell off his chair on live television, he made light of the 'wonky wheels' at the studio. Following a commercial break, Eamonn quipped: "Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes. "And they're very wonky wheels on chairs that we've got here, and matter of fact, we don't really like the chairs full stop, do we? They're a bit slippy and slidey and I've slipped and slid off mine there. "Not the first guest to have done so, we've had a few, they have to remain nameless because they're well known people, but they've hit the floor really badly, quite frightening. "And it was a bit of a shock for me because I've had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back. (I'm) really, really sore. Really sore."

Eamonn Holmes vows to ‘redouble' his efforts to walk again
Eamonn Holmes has vowed to 'redouble' his efforts to walk again. The 65-year-old has suffered a series of falls, surgeries and health setbacks that have left him reliant on canes and a wheelchair, and has now shared a poignant update with fans on social media, alongside a photograph of himself from 2022, standing tall in a suit beside a DeLorean sports car. He captioned it: 'Great picture popped up from 3 years but it's made me sad – I could walk. 'Got to redouble my efforts.' The TV presenter, who rose to fame as a host on ITV's 'This Morning' and now fronts GB News Breakfast, has been grappling with a string of health issues over recent years. He suffered a fall live on air earlier this year, which came just two weeks after he had been hospitalised following a similar incident. Both falls aggravated existing injuries from a spinal operation in 2022, as well as previous accidents at his Surrey home. The most recent fall occurred during his GB News segment, when a chair reportedly gave way beneath him. Speaking at the end of the programme, Eamonn told viewers: 'The chair gave way and I was lying flat on my back with my head hanging off the set. 'The first hour or so I was OK because the adrenaline kicked in, but then as the morning went on I felt the aches and pains. The worst thing is that two weeks ago I was hospitalised for a similar fall in the same area – back of my neck, head and shoulders – and that's all come back.' He added: 'We're going to have to replace the chairs because I'm not the only one to have fallen.' Fans have since rallied around Eamonn, sending words of encouragement in response to his post on X. One wrote: 'Keep pushing forward, Eamonn. Perseverance always pays off.' Another commented: 'Wolf whistle – still got it, Eamonn.' The veteran broadcaster, who had a double hip replacement in 2016, has continued to suffer from chronic pain since a follow-up spinal procedure in September 2022. In 2021, he was rushed to hospital after what was described as 'pain he's never felt in his life'. Further complications came in 2023 when he fractured his shoulder during a fall at home. Away from the studio, Eamonn is also dealing with personal upheaval is currently going through a divorce from Ruth Langsford, 65, with whom he previously shared a £3.6million home in Surrey. He was seen using a mobility scooter in public in late 2023 and appeared at the TRIC Awards using a walking frame, later telling reporters he was 'not OK'. Despite his physical challenges, Eamonn has continued to appear on screen, earning praise from colleagues who have described him as a 'trooper' for carrying on amid his health fight.

Concerns were raised among viewers last week when Eamonn experienced a fall from his chair while presenting GB News Breakfast alongside co-host Ellie Costello. The incident occurred off-camera during an interview with commentator Charlie Rowley, prompting an audible reaction from Costello and Eamonn urging Rowley to "carry on", reports the Mirror. Following a short break, Holmes reassured viewers: "Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes. The worst thing about this, of course, this was at a time when I was hospitalised two weeks ago for a very similar fall in the same area, back of the head, my neck, my shoulders. So it all came back, as it were." On X, formerly Twitter, Rowley wrote: "@EamonnHolmes YOU are the real hero for carrying on this morning. A true professional and National Treasure who I learn from each and every week. It's a privilege working with you, @elliecostelloTV and the rest of the @GBNEWS family. Take care!". Eamonn said he was lucky to have his phone within reach and was able to call for an ambulance. The former host of This Morning, who has been grappling with persistent health issues after dislodging discs in his back that once impinged on his sciatic nerve and hampered his right leg's movement, has often shared his challenges. He's undergone a spinal surgery, a double hip replacement, and spoken candidly about the difficulties he faces with walking and using a mobility scooter. Last year marked a significant change for Holmes as he and his wife Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010, made their separation public. In 2022, Eamonn Holmes disclosed that his ongoing health struggles had put a strain on his marriage to then-wife Ruth Langsford, a staple on Loose Women. He conveyed the challenges at home, admitting "Even my own family are bored of my moaning," and highlighting the marital tension with remarks such as "It has caused some strain and Ruth is fed up of hearing about it and of me saying I can't walk the dog or tidy up, but I can't help it. It's agony." After parting ways with Ruth, Eamonn is moving forward and is currently in a relationship with 43 year old marriage counsellor Katie Alexander. They took to social media earlier this month for their first pictures together. Alongside her pet pooch Dottie, Katie and Holmes, who was seated in a wheelchair, were seen enjoying each other's company in cosy selfies, which she captioned: "Lovely weather... lovely company.
