Remain adaptable, embrace evolving technologies, and develop a growth mindset to navigate the rapidly transforming career landscape, former president, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Kiran Karnik told the graduating students at the 16th convocation of GITAM Deemed to be University here on Saturday. Emphasising the importance of continuous learning in the era of Artificial Intelligence, he also stressed the importance of understanding emerging trends and staying committed to personal and professional growth. Emotional intelligence — self-awareness, empathy, motivation, and relationship management — is critical for effective leadership and teamwork in the AI-driven world, he advised students. In the ceremony, 2,002 degrees were awarded to 1,638 undergraduates, 264 postgraduates and 100 doctoral scholars from various disciplines. Thirty-two students were awarded Gold Medals for academic excellence. The university conferred Honorary Doctor of Science ( upon former Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), B. Venkatraman for his work in nuclear engineering and non-destructive evaluation; Doctor of Letters ( upon Arunachalam Muruganantham, social entrepreneur and inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad-making machine; and Doctor of Letters ( upon R. Venkateswara Rao. GITAM president M. Sribharat, Vice-Chancellor Errol D'Souza, Pro Vice-Chancellor D.S. Rao and others were present.

GITAM holds special graduation event for international students
GITAM Deemed to be University hosted its sixth special graduation ceremony on Wednesday for international students from Kenya, Rwanda, Bhutan, Nigeria, Nepal, Ethiopia, Uganda, and other nations. This year, 60 international students successfully completed programmes in disciplines of engineering, science, pharmacy, paramedical sciences, and management. Speaking at the event, Registrar Prof. D. Gunasekharan emphasised that India's educational landscape is rich in diversity, culture, and history, making it a preferred global destination for higher education. GITAM School of Pharmacy Principal Prof. Srinivas urged the graduates to apply their acquired knowledge towards building human capital in their home countries. He encouraged them to pursue research-driven careers to serve society. University Director (International Affairs) K.P.C. Kishan shared that over 400 students from 43 countries are currently enrolled at GITAM across various programs. He acknowledged the Central Government's `Study in India' initiative for promoting Indian higher education on the global stage. He invited graduates to join the Indian Alumni Association to stay connected and expand their professional networks globally.
