‘Pokemon' Star Dead at 71

James Carter Cathcart, the voice actor who portrayed many beloved characters in the Pokémon franchise, died on Tuesday at the age of 71. His cause of death was throat cancer, his ex-wife Jeanne Gari said, The New York Times reported. Cathcart's wife, Martha Jacobi, confirmed his death in a message posted to Facebook on Thursday. "JCC died, peacefully, very early in the morning, on Tuesday 7/8/25, at Calvary Hospital, in the Bronx. "The funeral will be in early August, In New York. Memorial designations are still in process, pending conversations with one of the charities that was close to Jimmy's heart. I will post those here when they are in place.
